I want to your hear your thoughts about which medical school is a better choice to attend if I am planning on going into a surgical specialty. I am currently leaning towards orthopedics but I am open to other options, I just want to go surgical. How would high-level, out-of-state programs view each school comparatively? Which offers better opportunities for internal and away rotations? I am aware that USF tends to have a bad reputation concerning the way it treats its student and its general culture, whereas the opposite seems to be true of UF. I have also heard that USF has graded preclinical whereas UF has more stringent grading for rotations and is P/F preclinical. How would this affect my residency applications? USF was ranked first in the state by U.S. news, but their rankings as of late seem somewhat unreliable, and their ranking seems to be the source of the hype. I am from Tampa, but I went to UF for undergrad so I have a connection to both places. I will say that living in downtown Tampa over Gainesville will be a big plus for me. On the other hand, I was much more impressed by UF's info-session in addition to the limited contact I have had with their staff. Please let me know what you think about them or what you have heard about them. Thank you.
