BU vs UF

Hello everyone,

I’m going to keep this sweet and short. I got accepted to both BU and UF (I’m in-state) and I’m having difficulty picking what school I’d like to attend. UF would be cheaper in the long run and is also a great school. Plus the move won’t be so bad. But I’ve also always wanted to move out of Florida. I don’t know if this is a grass is always greener situation but I’d like to experience living in another city in my twenties especially one like Boston.

I’d have my own place in Gainesville but Id most likely have roommates in Boston and most likely even share a bathroom. The difference in price is $40k for the four years. Basically Florida feels like the safe and comfortable option but Boston sounds like I’d be able to meet more people and experience life in a big city. I think there could be a lot of personal growth in that.

Also, I don’t have family in FL so I’m able to really back and leave. There’s not much holding me back but I’d like more opinions

Are you saying you got a BU scholarship to nearly match your in-state tuition (delta = $40K/4 years)? Be happy about it!

If money were no object, I'd book it to Boston. It's the historic medical mecca with long-established teaching hospitals serving three, four, or more different medical schools. If you study and work hard, the opportunities to connect with strong residency programs are plentiful.

Yes I did. I was very surprised by their aid package. BU would cost $10k more every year and it’s an interest free loan from the school. Scholarships covered the rest. So $40k extra for the entire 4 years

I couldn’t go to any second look unfortunately.

I’d lean Florida. Great school and it’s cheaper and you’ll be much more comfortable with your own apartment.

I thought BU was going to be Baylor. I think I’d still say Florida in that case.
