I noticed a small date error on one of my secondary applications that I submitted last week.

I'm trying to weigh the cost/benefit of using an "update" (in this case, just uploaded to the portal) to correct the typo. Does it reflect positively if you're able to catch these small mistakes, or is it better just to leave it be?

(I'm curious about thoughts on this question more generally, but FYI the mistake was stating a start date of 2016 instead of 2015.)

I had terrible grammar on one or two of my EC descriptives. I think adcoms are intuitive enough to know you mean 2015 and not 2016 provided that your hours listed are a solid amount.

Yeah, in this case I think it will hopefully be clear that I meant 2015? I'm still curious about if it will be perceived positively to correct the mistake.

Don't know how to answer that. You might have better luck asking any of the 4 adcom members that frequent this board.

I would wager it would be perceived as neurotic. They'll likely understand what you mean, and you can always correct it in the interview if it's brought up. It's not going to be what keeps you out of medical school. Don't update with this exclusively.
