(this is for anesthesia, so not a specialty where away rotations are required)

Will it cause me to be ranked lower if I use a letter of recommendation from an away rotation in my applications to other programs in the same city as that away rotation program?

I had another letter of rec I could have used in place of it, but it was uploaded later, so I opted to have the away rotation one sent to have it be on time. Did I shoot myself in the foot?

What?
That's one big point of aways is to obtain a letter that speaks to your knowledge, skill, character, etc. If this was the case, people would always only match at their home programs (Or DOs not at all).

Yea that makes sense. Sry if this question came off as neurotic. I'm just worried b/c I don't want other programs in the same city to feel slighted that I chose a different program than theirs to do an away rotation at (though I made the choice for logistical reasons I can't explain unless they ask me when I interview).

You’re right. It is neurotic. It’s perfectly fine to do aways and use those letters. I did them for IM and used a good one in ALL of my programs
