Hi guys,

So i managed to get my hands on a copy of DIT and the workbook from an upperclassman who heavily recommended it, he said he got a 255 using just DIT and UWorld. I was wondering if it would be amiss to use DIT over three weeks of winter break in order to be able to get through all of First Aid, have annotations from DIT in First Aid and then being able to add stuff throughout the year from the rest of the resources I use. Is it something you would recommend not even looking at until closer to dedicated study time?

My reasoning for using it was because I find it kind of difficult to just sit down and read First Aid without some sort of context and feel like the program will help me get familiar with the book as well as allowing me to understand what my weak areas are and hit them more during the second half of the year. Also I figured that if I liked the program, I could do it again closer to exam time and if I didn't I could just trash it as a resource and still have made it through First Aid after adding the material.

Would it be more high yield to instead just go through things like BRS Phys over winter break instead?

Although I am also interested in the answers as well, Im assuming most people arent responding because its been discussed 100 times on these forums...... maybe do a search?

I did take a look in the DIT thread but those were about the merits of DIT during the dedicated study period. I was wondering if it would be an effective overview/review during winter break so much farther out

Don't waste your break. There's a lot of material that hasn't been covered yet and there's a lot of material that is simply memorization (so you'll forget it by Step1 time).

At my school, the only topics that wouldnt have been covered by that point are Repro, GI, emergency med, pediatrics, and geriatrics..... as far I know

Is this a common pattern at other schools?

I'm also planning to use DIT to study for Step 1 but I'm not starting the videos during winter break, instead I'll start the videos (part 2 of DIT) in late April. In January I'll do their part 1 ( the questions they send out every Mon & Thurs).

My plan for Winter break is : Review BRS & Goljan (audio & book) --> Just the topics I have already covered in class.

My plan for winter break is to fly back home, sleep a lot, spend lots of time just chillin' with family, friends, and my much-missed cat and dog, watch a lot of stupid/fun cartoons with my sister and young nephews, and enjoy the lovely Florida December weather. I'm an MS1 though. I have no idea how my plans will change next year. It seems the MS1s have the best breaks.
