Using MCAT books as supplements while taking course?

I've read a few times that people used the MCAT books as supplements/reference while taking the course. The only MCAT book I have is the EK Verbal Reasoning so I can't speak about the quality of the other books, but would you suggest for or against?

EK 1001 series are good. I'm using them now, but may seem daunting due to how long it is.
