Now I know that writing something origional for the secondary essays is probably the best thing to do in this situation, but I was wondering if it would be seen as poor taste to do this.

The question was: "describe your motivation for a career in medicine and experiences you have had that helped confirm this desire"

My personal statement is basically just this. Should I start from scratch? or take what I have already and edit it a bit?

That question sounds familiar. 😉

I wouldn't cut & paste from your PS. Definitely write something original. Maybe pick an experience that you didn't cover in your PS. Also, I think with this question you can be more subjective. I think it's more important to put tangible experiences in your PS, but I think with this you can elaborate more on personal motivation.

with secondaries, you are given a chance to tell the schools more about yourself. IMO, you want to provide as much information about yourself as possible, so that the school can determine if you are a good fit for them. so why repeat stuff already in your application? give them something new!

Just think back to all the things you had to cut out from your personal statement because of the character limit. Now is your chance to write about those things in the secondary 🙂 I think you can expand on something you talked about in the PS, but don't repeat yourself word-for-word. Hope that helps!
