Using song lyrics in secondary essays?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Well you could turn your whole PS into one of those things that ends with the Fresh Prince theme song.

Using literary quotations is tacky enough, even when it comes from well-regarded writers. Just don't.

Penn State asked if there was a unique aspect of my application that should be considered by the admissions committee. Due to their 50-word limit for responses, the following was mine:

Wake up in the morning feeling like Greg House
Grab my stethoscope and white coat shrugged over my blouse
Before I leave, brush my teeth with pure Betadine
'Cause when I leave for the clinic, the whole world is mine (bitches)

I would have gone on if they'd given me the room.

oh my God, you guys, not really

Anyone ever done this? Say using someone really well known, like a beatles or michael jackson lyric? too risky?

In my opinion, I wouldn't do this at all. If the quote your trying to use is something that expresses how you feel, then I would think of what exactly your trying to express and put it into your own words. It just seems lazy and tacky in my opinion, just as the other poster stated
