only if you are applying to ACGME programs. If you apply osteopathic programs only you would not be required to disclose your USMLE score.
What if you apply to a dual program? Then would it be required to disclose it? Also lets say I took the USMLE prior to the comlex being released but my comlex score came back and I saw I made a good score for where/what I wanted to apply, would there be a way to say please cancel my usmle score or is there no way?
I *think* that if you are applying to a dually accredited program you will not be required to show your USMLE score because you will still be applying through the AOA match. Now if you were applying to that dually accredited program through the MD(ACGME) match, you would be required to show it.... But why would you apply to the dually accredited program through the MD match as a DO anyways? I'm sure the PD would think that is weird.
Now, for the second question...
I'm not sure if that dual program is still the one you are talking about, but the same rules stated above apply here.
Conversely, if you are applying to a program that is ACGME only (not dually accredited through the AOA as well) and that program recognizes the COMLEX (you didn't really need to take the USMLE to get into it), you still must report your USMLE scores because it is an ACGME program and you would have to apply through the MD match. This is precisely the sh***y situation you can get yourself into if you sit for the USMLE and do bad ---- you basically hurt your chances at ACGME programs that accepted/recognized the COMLEX to begin with.
This is my understanding. Anyone please correct me if I am wrong.
you are required to report that you took it of you apply to an acgme program, but there is nothing said about releasing the score itself. Granted, a program will obviously know if you took it and didn't report it you likely did not do well on the usmle. So, hiding your score if you do badly is not really an option. Again, you must report that you took the usmle, otherwise you are in violation of the match agreement.
"note to osteopathic applicants only: Before you certify your eras application, consider whether you will apply to acgme and/or aoa-accredited programs. If you apply to acgme accredited programs, and you have taken the usmle, you must report that on your application. If you only apply to aoa accredited programs, you do not have to report the usmle on your application."
This information can be farther from the truth.
You can take both as an osteopathic student but you only need to submit your COMLEX score.
When you fill out your ERAS it will ask you for Test Codes. Each Code COMLEX & USMLE have a code that is correlated with your name. Otherwise ERAS has no idea about your scores etc.
So when filling out your ERAS, if your USMLE scores are not very strong, do NOT list that code. You would be suprised at the number of programs that accept comlex only. Only very old school, traditional and highly competitive fields require USMLE, and majority of these programs do NOT even have DOs currently on their residents staff.
. But why would you apply to the dually accredited program through the MD match as a DO anyways? I'm sure the PD would think that is weird.
My roommate is thinking of doing an EM audition at Kalamazoo, suppose he does well, would he be able to get an SLOR? He wants to participate in both the DO and MD matches.
