Hello, I'm an osteopathic 4th yr student shooting for neuro with less than stellar Step 1 board scores. I'm currently waiting on my step 2 comlex scores and am scheduled to take step 2 usmle in 3 days.

It may just be pre-game jitters but I'm not feeling that strong going into usmle step 2, so my question is this. Having already stated on eras that I am scheduled to take usmle, is it looked unfavorably upon to not release the scores?

Thanks in advance

Some PD's might notice, some might not. Those that notice will likely email you later in the season asking you to release your USMLE Step 2. My guess is that most PD's won't notice, but it's hard to tell.

I'm also a DO, I got a 229/95 on step I. I just got my step II and I didn't do as good ( got a 225/93, one point bellow average). Do you guys think I should submit my score?
Thanks for all the help.

those really aren't bad scores for a less competitive residency like IM, peds or fp. I don't know how DO's are judged, but I guess I'd be tempted to submit the BEST scores I have (i.e. either DO/COMLEX or USMLE). I mean, you kind of have to submit something. I really think most IM programs would be happy with your 220-something USMLE Scores, to be honest. They know you can pass the ABIM exam and in-service exams, which is actually part of the reason they want the USMLE scores anyhow.

No problemo.

Ok, so I have both decent COMLEX and USMLE Step I and II scores. However, I decided to only submit my USMLE scores so that program directors would "be sure" to see them and not somehow think that I had only taken the COMLEX. Now, nearly two months later, I am rethinking this choice and wishing I had just submitted all of my scores to begin with cause I don't want there to be any cause for concern with why I didn't also submit my COMLEX scores. However, I am apprehensive in doing so because it may draw attention to my COMLEX scores and detract away from my USMLE scores.

What should I do? Am I making a big deal about nothing??

Thanks!

Big deal about nothing. Allo PD's will pay more attention to your USMLE's anyway. I'd release your comlex scores. Either 1) they;ll be ignored or 2) they won't. #1 doesn't change anything in your app, and #2 can only help you if your scores are good.

In the long run, I doubt it will make much difference.
