Quick question about the USMLE Transcript "Send" checkbox that's found on the bottom of each program you decide to apply to.

If you've already done the Yes / No to the first two questions about your USMLE scores (i.e.: Yes send your current scores and No don't send future ones automatically), what are you saying when you check "Send"? Is this to send your Step 1 score, or is this the manual control to send the Step 2 score?

In other words, if I want to wait to send Step 2, should I leave this box empty? Or do I need to check this to send my current USMLE transcript that contains my Step 2?

Hope this makes sense... Many threads on USMLE issues, but a search didn't reveal the answer to this one....

Clicking that box will authorize usmle to send your current transcript to the program. When you get your future scores, you will need to re-transmit your transcript.

Then what was the whole deal with the Yes / No question on the main application? Wasn't that what the "yes" to the first question did?

Clicking the box for each program says you're sending the transcript you authorized to that particular program. The yes/no question just says you authorize eras to submit transcripts to programs (to which programs is determined by the boxes you click).

I don't think this is correct.

According to the MyERAS User Guide- the second question regarding "automatically transmitting new scores":
Select Yes if you want your previously unavailable USMLE Step result transmitted to the programs you designated. Please note that the transmission may occur BEFORE you see your new examination result. An updated transcript cannot be transmitted to only a subset of programs: if you select Yes, your transcript will be sent to every program that previously received it.
Select No if you do not want your newly released USMLE Step result transmitted to programs before you review it. You may authorize the transmission of your updated transcript by going to Documents in MyERAS and clicking on Retransmit USMLE Transcript.

So if you select yes, it should automatically send the scores to programs you already sent transcripts to. You only need to retransmit if you selected "no" to that second question.

The OP selected Yes/No, so he declined to automatically transmit new scores.
