Probably been discussed before, but can't find a recent thread....

I'm just curious about what scores people were getting on USMLE World, and then how you ended up doing on Step 2.

All you have to do is post two numbers...... 🙂

Thanks folks, and good luck with everything!!

Only used Uworld, once through over the course of second half of 3rd year and through aug of 4th year while still on rotations, random, timed, averaged ~60%
step 1 --> 211
step 2 --> 251 (test date aug 31)
VERY relieved that I improved my score, especially considering I auto-released it on ERAS

That's awesome!! How did you feel coming out of the test?

^^^

That was a huge risk that you took. Are you a US grad?

Dude anytime one takes a test, its a huge risk, regardless. I know folks who did ok on the assessment tests and just missed passing on the real deal. I did decent on the NBMEs, and felt alright, so what you call a risk, I call a calculated decision.

I posted to encourage folks, cause I've been a SDN lurker for over a decade (way back in undergrad) and most ppl with my experience, do not like posting. Everyone is different, do what works for you, we are all on different paths in life. Success is subjective and I'm happy with mine today, and apparently a few PDs are happy too😀

FM for me too. My score was near yours. We WILL achieve our dreams!

Yes and Amen! 😀

OMG I see the correlation to step 2ck scores now!!! I just figured it out!

The bigger the douche bag you are the higher your score.

Here is the formula I came up with

( SDN posts per day average * 300) - (size of your penis in inches * 12 note for females just estimate size you think it would be if u were a dude) - (# of girls\ guys you have slept with) + 112.435
R^2 = .84

I got my score! 251!! Guess that means I am an average douche by SDN standards but a huge douche IRL. Ladies if you were wondering 4 and 1/2 measured from the base 😉

Almost as bad as I felt after that M.D. Jennings int was ruled a Seattle touchdown Monday night...almost...

I felt like a brain dead pile of poo afterward. Seemed like the questions weren't at all like the ones I had in UWorld.

Thought I would share my experience a bit, since I promised to contribute to sdn after getting some good info from the site.

Step 1:247
Step 2: Had 4 weeks time to prep. Started off taking NBME form 2, got 210. I was like, "Oh crap, gotta study hard." Got in gear, finished off UWorld and did DIT course with SU2CK as my main source, completing it in 15 days. Took UWSA, got 235. Okay, positive trend. Took 7 days to review SU2CK and reviewed my weakest section via UWorld (OBgyn). Took the beast Aug 26 and felt it was hard, but manageable. I did not think I did as well as Step 1, but was praying to get in 240s.
Step 2 CK: 242

Overall, I can't complain. I think as an IMG applying to IM, I should hopefully have a fair shot. My one question was, with the mean for this test being 237 +/- 21, how will that effect how program directors will look at our Step 2 scores? Do the 2 digit numbers even mean anything anymore?

Congrats to all that passed and good luck to those who still have to tackle it.

I auto released my scores too. I was shakin' in my boots for awhile but it's a good thing I'm a gambler. I guess I went ALL IN! Sometimes you just gotta say, "what the fck!"

wow so many high scores on this site...
CK:268/89

UWSA 10 days before test: 256

mainly used Uworld to study

Took it yesterday, I felt just like I did after Step 1 which was that I had gotten my butt kicked.

1st time through UW (During year): 72%
2nd time through (40%): 84%
NBME 2 (3 wks out): 230
NBME 4 (1wk out): 244
USWA (1 wk out): 263

I used UW throughout 3rd year and ended on Medicine. I took about 2 weeks after 3rd year to study and did mainly UW again, I took handwritten notes like I did for step one and tried to review those as much as possible. I also used Step up to Step 2, which I really regret. I used it instead of FA because it was fewer pages and I had less time. But I looked through FA that last week and regretted it because FA seemed to have more high yield information and the pages weren't as dense as SUS2 so it was actually about the same time commitment.

I'll let you know how it went in 4 weeks.

261/87

USWA was really accurate within 2 pts.
The linear regression on this site was within 1 pt.

Just to be clear then, everyone who felt like **** and was sure the new format totally f@cked them has done just fine? All the freak out over the new format was for naught?

One of the best posts I've seen on SDN

Wanted to thank the community for some posts containing strategies and scores which helped me in preparation. Therefore, giving my input on my score:
Step 1 - 227 (~6 wks study)
Step 2 - 266 (2.5 wks study)
1. Prayer, reliance on God
2. Usmle World - avg 65% timed, 10-20questions, started beginning 3rd yr by subject- finished last 600 questions random in the first half a week of study
3. Studying for clerkships and shelves (83%-94%)
4. Secrets 150%, Step up 2 step2 80%
5. UsmleRx timed, random 44 blocks, 60% completed, 78% correct
6. Getting pumped listening to "Dragonborn"
7. NBME(x1 baseline 234 at beginning of studytime), USMLERx (x3 8hr tests), & World (252 -5 days before) practice tests

did you find usmle rx helpful ???

Thanks for all the great info on SDN

I spent 4 weeks and went through first aid cover to cover while doing 70% of the usmleworld qbank. I was getting low 70s average on blocks of randoms just before the real test. I didn't use any sample tests, but these would have likely helped me identify and focus on weak areas.

My test experience was horrible. I felt the real exam I had on Sept 5th was much more difficult than usmleworld questions. I was barely able to finish (< 60s left) on 4 of my 9 blocks. I had 8 blocks of 43-45 questions and one block of 35. I was surprised and intimidated my the number of questions. I went in expecting 8 blocks. Unfortunately, many of my 2 page pharm ads were in the first 8 blocks and many easy questions were in my last block, which I finished with 15 min to spare. The questions were almost all fair, but very difficult for me. There were many questions on topics which were not covered at all in my review material (but i didn't see 30% of the usmleworld questions).

I left the test feeling drained and defeated, and then felt really depressed the next couple of days.

Got scores today: 249/85
I am so happy to have raised my score from my step 1, and that all the freakin work we all do paid off for me on this test. Not in the stellar league, but I'm happy with it and it will get me to that next marker in this marathon career.

Thanks to others for posting

Step 1: ~240 did Kaplan ~6wks

UWSA (10days out): 234
UW average: 68%

Step 2: ~255 did UW and Secrets ~3 weeks

did you find usmle rx helpful ???
yes, however I would emphasize Uworld as it is more true to actual exam questions.
UsmleRx was helpful for me as a backup; it does a good job of testing important information; unfortunately the questions are often straightforward and lack polish.

Yup let me know if the formula works as well for you all as it does for me. Based on the posts recently looks like some of u all are either posting lots of messages or have disappointed lots of women if you know what I mean

Hey guys, just wanted to give back

Step 1: Slightly below average
Step 2 CK: Read FA CK through out 3rd year + 70% Uworld with average in 60's. 4 wk dedicated study time post 3rd year. Reread FA again X1, Secrets and reset uworld with averages in 70's and 80's, only went through 60% of uworld 2nd time around.

Practice test: NBME 4 before any studying 216, NBME 2 2wks in 225, USWA 1wk out 240

Test day: Test was completely different from uworld for me, longer questions, multiple eye images, had to blindly guess on last 2 questions in a few blocks... blah blah blah. I honestly taught I failed. Got my scores today.....245. Definitely happy and all I can do is thank God.

Good luck to everyone still waiting for there scores.

To give back, quickly:

Self-assessments: NBME Form 2 many weeks out, ~230
UW average: 65-67% (not sure, skewed based on how I used the qbank)
"100 cases" regression here on SDN: mid-240s, if I remember correctly?

What I did:

UW, and lots of it. And more UW. Used it for M3 shelf exams, then went back and knocked out incorrects plus the hundreds of unused IM questions. And more repeated questions for things I felt like I might've forgot. Did not make it through the entire bank twice.

Minimal reading from Step Up / Secrets / Master the Boards (for Step 3, which was suggested as a Step 2 source by a few resident buddies -- saw why they liked it so much, but I never tried MTB for Step 2).

How I felt afterward:

Lousy. Remembered all the silly mistakes, things I wasn't sure about, etc. The same feeling many of us have after exams.

How I did:

Step 1: >>240
Step 2CK: >>250

Good luck, all. You'll be fine!

This thread has been really helpful so I want to contribute. Not a great student and do not have the great SDN numbers. USIMG.

Step 1: Mid 220s

Studied very little during rotations, read parts of secrets, MTB, and Step UP to Step 2. During the the dedicated study time Finished UW once 56%. Finished about 50% of the wrong questions, was getting about 75% correct. Studied self made UW notes (2-3 lines per question about 120 pages).

1.5 months before NBME 2: 184 (25% UW completed)
1 month before NBME 4: 209 (80% UW completed)
10 days before UWSA: 230 (100% UW completed and UW note review)

Step 2: Mid 220s

I have low concentrations and retain very little from passive reading of books. Step 2 CK books are not that good to begin with (Some give too much info and some not enough0. I made the mistake of saving UW til the end. My advice for anyone would be to just focus on UW and try to finish it a couple of times. If you see my progression, you realize the impact of UW because that is pretty much all I studied during my dedicated study time. Good Luck guys!!!!

Well I only studied that hard to compensate for years of disappointing women. I figure do well buy wife and trick her into getting pregnant...

Step 1: mid 230s
Step 2: 270! (note - I think the average for this group of scores was higher than prior to august: 237 w/ SD 21)

Secrets X 2. Uworld during 3rd year and 1.5 times during study period (2.5 weeks studying)
1st pass Uworld average: low 70s
2nd pass Uwordl average: low 80s
3rd pass (missed and marked questions): 90s

UWSA: 268

I got 230ish on UWSA 2 but then I took the test a week later without much studying in between and now I feel like I failed.

Oh wellington.

Ok so I got a 239. Not bad! Pretty similar to my Step 1 score in that I scored near average.

Towards the end, my UWorld percentages were averaging around 65%, but the range would be anywhere from like 55%-75%. It was crazy.

Just wanted to post my experience:

Step 1: 204
Step 2 CK: 249

I used Uworld and kaplan qbanks to prepare for every shelf in third year. The month before the exam, I completed DIT with SU2CK in 15 days and spent next 15 pounding out about 1500 uworld questions. Did 44 question, timed, all tests and overall avg was 65%. Using the qbank all through 3rd year brought my overall average down but in the last 2 weeks my average was around 80% on my tests. Morning of the test, I warmed up with 22 questions and made my first 100% so I knew I was ready. I credit DIT for the improvement in my score. It really helped consolidate my knowledge from various clerkships. Beyond step 2, the DIT course helped me do well in my sub-internship.

Going into IM. US Allopathic medical graduate.

Thanks A Lot for the Advise.... And Stating that you're a US-IMG So am I....

I have been using MTB2CK It seems very sparse to me...Did you feel MTB 2CK or MTBStep3 helped at all.????

I see your main point is to use UW 100%... But just wanted your opinion of using MTB...

Thanks again

I liked MTB2CK. I think it is a easy read and you can cover vast amount of information very quickly but it is far from complete. Most information for CK you know already from Step 1 except for some of the management. All you need to do is understand the style of questioning. You can use MTB2CK as a jolt for your memory. Secrets is a great book and somewhat complete. SUTS2 I didn't like the format but great tables. I know nothing about MTB 3. I abandoned all these books and only used them if I felt, I was weak on a topic as a refresher. If you are a third year, I recommend doing UW, read the wrong and right answers and start taking notes (few lines to help you remember the concepts, don't get too bogged down in trying to write in everything. Maybe you can type it up in a Word doc). The Step has a similar line of questioning. Read the books if you have the time. They can only help.

I hope my advice helps. I do not have really high scores. I think it is possible to do very well in this test by doing UW over and over and understanding and knowing it well. You hear that a lot on these boards and they are right. I initially thought this applied to AMGs who have used other resources preparing for shelves but my thinking was wrong. The impact of UW could be understood through my NBME and UWSA progression pretty well. Good Luck!!! I hope you do a lot better than I did on this test.

Using MTB 2 without MYB 3 is worthless. So, if you decide to go MTB way then do them both (MTB 2 for IM and MTB 3 for the rest). Both can be easily done in a week.

In the middle of studying, took UWSA and got 232, my step 1 was 232 and obviously trying to beat this score. I am taking the test this tuesday, I am planning on trying to just finish UWorld (I am about 50% of the way through and have been an average of 69% with a mix of timed, tutor, random/subject). Do any of you have any suggestions for me, anything else I should do?

Thanks!

finish as much of UW as possible

Hey guys,

Got my score back, but was busy so couldn't post.

Regardless, I guess I did about the same as my UWSA predicted..

UWSA: 216

Step 2: 217

I'm one of those "average" people on here, hopefully others can use my post (as well as a bunch of others peoples post on here) as inspiration.

Remember: NOT EVERYONE GETS A 230+

What was your uworld %?

yes, however I would emphasize Uworld as it is more true to actual exam questions.

Took CK yesterday. UWorld was NOTHING like the real deal for me. Did UWorld questions twice and feel they didn't help one bit. Just my 2 cents.

apologies in advance if this is the wrong thread to be asking about release dates... i see above that someone who took Step 2 CK on Sept 5 received scores already... does anyone have an idea when one might expect score report from Sept 13? thanksss tons. :xf:

Same question, just took the test a few days ago. Is 4 weeks about right for turnaround right now? Wondering if I can get my score out in time to help me for residency interviews.

One bit? Come on now, we all know that isn't the truth. There are verbatim questions on step 2 that are seen in uworld. All I did is study Uworld and I felt like it did an excellent job preparing me for the exam. Scored well too.

When did you take the exam? I heard this from recent test takers also... The test resembles UW less recently? I hope it resembles UW, besides what else are you suppose to study?
