Hihi!

I'n pretty sure these are from US News and World Report - they're the same people who rank colleges and other graduate schools. You can check it out at www.usnews.com - but you need to pay to access everything. If you don't, you only have limited info available to you.

Remember, these are the rankings for "Community Health" Master's/Doctorate, not Public Health - this can be an important difference. For example, my undergraduate alma mater, the University of Illinois at Urbana offers the MS in community health. It does not offer an MPH. Of course my graduate alma mater, the University of Illinois at Chicago does and while it doesn't show up on this list, it ususally ranks between 18-20 on the USN&WR MPH rankings. And the USN&WR rankings do not include sub-specialties, for instance Johns Hopkins is extremely well regarded in international health, UIC is near the top for Environmental and Occupational Health Science and North Carolina is tremendous at COmmunity Health Education (among others).

IMNSHO - the USN&WR are nearly worthless.

Thanks FoughtFyr....

Could you tell me where to get the information with regards to school rankings on Public health? I'm searching on the net but all I see is top 5 schools. When u apply for schools , it's always better to know the schools which fall under top 20 list.

Another question is, a friend of mine which i've mentioned earlier is also looking for other career options like Biotechnology. I've posted a thread under Biotech forum, nobody seems to be helpful out there. Can anyone tell me which is better, MPH or Biotech when choosing it as a career ? How are the job opportunities and pay ?

Any info provided would be really great.

Split the difference and do biostats. Very much in need, but not as lucrative compared to the other disciplines (epi, PH policy, etc)...

Can really say much about biotech other than what I see in my research everyday (biomedical engineering/imaging). Mostly PhD's where I am in the biotech realm, and its the same issue for PhD's everywhere-- publish of perish. Dont see/know of too many folks here that went into the industry straight out of undergrad...

You'd have to go to the USN&WR website or buy the graduate school edition. I do not have access to either. Someone posted them here: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=163602.
