Hey

I'm a med student from Louisiana and doing an away at Parkland in the Emergency Department in a few weeks. I was just wondering if I could get some imput from people who have been through that rotation.

Regarding students:
What are the hours?
Any graveyard shifts?
How many shifts do you work?
How much autonomy is there?
Any information would be great.

Also: The UT Southwestern ED sent me a list of hotels where I could stay:

Days Inn near Parkland
Wilson World (? never heard of this)
Sheraton @ Mockingbird
Bradford Homesuites

Any advice on any of these?

Thanks!

Beware of cheap motels/hotels in the Parkland area. This part of town is WELL known for drug dealers, prostitution, violent crime. (Hence why the county hospital/level I trauma center is there.)
