Any advice would be appreciated! Both great schools, just need some help making the decision.

UTHSC:

Pro:
In-state (so slightly lower tuition)
Closer to family
P/f preclinicals

Con:
Have lived in the state for quite a while, and it would be nice to explore a new area (and live next to some palm trees haha)

USF:

Pro:
Slightly higher ranking
More geographically diverse student body (UTHSC is almost all TN residents)

Con:
OOS, so slightly more expensive
Farther from family
Hp/p/f preclinicals? (I haven't been able to get a straight answer about this, so if someone knows their grading system for preclinicals lmk)

Definitely a city girl, but Memphis and Tampa are relatively comparable in that regard, neither are rural areas so that works out. Im familiar with the memphis area, not so much Tampa, so any advice would be appreciated!!

No reason to pay more and move away from your support system. Go for UTHSC.

Everyone I've heard talk about UTHSC likes it, you can't go wrong with that option.

Is USF mandatory class?

I believe so
That by itself would be enough for me to go UTHSC over USF.

Some people just don't do very well with mandatory class in med school. If you wind up being one of those people at a school that requires it, it's miserable.

Very true, and I definitely am someone who likes to watch lectures and learn material outside of class/at my own pace! Thanks for the input!
