UVA interviewees

I've been complete for a month...no word yet (OOS, uva alum), but with the holidays I figure I have a few more weeks to pray 😉
 
I am sorry, but I have to respectfully disagree with you. I was complete at UVA sometime in late July and I did not receive an invite until the beginning of December. I will attend the interview next week. OOS. Good luck everyone! The waiting is rough sometimes, I feel your pain...

The dean of admissions said that they hand out the first batch of pre-interview rejections around Thanksgiving. Otherwise, I guess you're on hold until whenever.

However, I don't know the timeline for applicants who were completed later in the year, although I wouldn't be surprised if it's longer than 4 weeks. Dean Canterbury did say that interview spots fill up quickly, and each year they are forced to reject many well-deserving applicants just because they completed late.

Sorry, I'm being very vague and unhelpful. (Kind of like med schools themselves!) But francisco, you've got a nice collection of interviews, so congrats on them!

Zendoc, congratulations on the interview! I was complete end of August.....still no word. I'm going crazy :meanie:
 
I received an interview in late December. I'm OOS (from Wisconsin) with a 3.57 overall GPA (3.58 BCPM) and a 40 MCAT.
 
I have been complete at UVa since 11/1, and today (1/7) I received an invitation to interview in the mail. I'm in state.

This is probably answered elsewhere, but does anyone know what their interview vs. acceptance numbers are?

Just got my first invite and I'll bet you can't guess which school gave it to me!

Stats as per OPs long-forgotten request: 3.5, 37, IS, complete 11/27

33, something approaching 3.9 (I'm not quite how fall grades changed my AMCAS GPA because the average comes from a couple of schools and I haven't bothered to average it myself), in-state

they accept about half of interviewees, and usually let you know within a week. werd.

Well, I just withdrew, so someone else should have an interview coming to them. Enjoy 🙂.
 
Guys, I feel like tis getting kind of late and I probably won't get an interview invite from this school! This makes me reallyyy sad 🙁. I even went to undergrad at UVA and I interviewed at the two other Instate schools. I hope they start inviting more instaters with less than super scores.

I know what you mean...OOS though. I'm trying not to give up hope since people are still getting interview invites in Jan...They know how rigorus their school is so I too hope that they will share the love. Or at least just give me an interview so I can show them why I wnat to come back to grounds, you know?
 
I know I am preaching to the choir here, but I just have to say how much I loved my interview experience at UVA. It is a fabulous institution and one can really feel the sense of family and camraderie amongst medical students and faculty. Good luck to everyone and I would be glad to answer any questions about my experience there. :luck::luck:
 
i've decided to stop waiting. that way I won't be expecting anything! jk. To be honest, I'm not even sure I would go to uva even if i got in. but i really would like an invite. i think the end of jan is a good time to stop hoping. so we still got over a week! :luck:

Got an acceptance letter in the mail today. I'm pretty stoked about it!

Complete 7/24, just got the rejection letter, dated 1/23. Thing that cracks me up is this line: "We realize that this decision will be a disappointment to you." :laugh: Way to state the obvious. 👍

That's about what I would expect UVa to put in a rejection letter. I've been formulating my impending letter's contents in my head:

"Mr. OCallag,

The University of Virginia does not accept idiots, deviants, or rednecks and you, we regret to inform you, are all three. Surely you knew back in June that Mr. Jefferson's University has higher standards. Best of luck with the other state schools.

Ta ta,

The University of Virginia School of Medicine"

Of course, if I get an interview these opinions likely will change.

I WISH. If I don't get into med school this year I'm going to try my hand at penning pretentious colleges' rejection letters.

What did that Northwestern email say? Didn't apply there.
 
So I didn't get a reject from the UVa today, and I live in the same state... does this mean they REALLY want me but just want to make me wait or are they just toying with me?

I don't know dude, I'm wondering the same thing. Want to go rock, paper, scissors on who calls tomorrow to figure out what's the deal?

I called today, they said the last day of interviews would be March 6th.
 
I'm waiting on UVA to make up their minds. I haven't heard anything--- interview, rejection, nothing other than my app is complete. I hate these limbo states.
 
Received an invite today. Will be my first interview since September and first invite since August. How often does that happen? 🙂

Just a little heads up....Other than confirming you interview date with Ms. Small, I can't remember any other email correspondence. They are old school and do things by snail mail (but they are not slow AT ALL.) Good luck! Make sure to confirm your interview day though with Ms. Small ASAP! 😀

This is true. For those of you that have interviews coming up, its a very relaxing atmosphere... the people are so sweet its scary. Lol... Good Luck!

I'm happy you got an interview--- I'm crossing my fingers that I hear something on Monday!
 
I've been complete since 10/11 and havent heard anything. Does anyone know if interviews are still going out?
 
Congrats to everyone accepted. Here's to hoping I'm in your boat by this time next year. UVA is definitely great. The hospital is top notch and so are the people.
