I have no idea what the waitlist message meant, one minute it was there, then it was gone, then I got the acceptance letter.

I'm out of state, and I don't know if it made any difference, but I sent a thank you email to my interviewer last week. I think it would be best to communicate somehow with the admissions committe if this is your school. Good luck to everyone else still waiting. 👍

I've yet to hear from my number one choice, but between Iowa, UVM and Pitt, phew! I don't know. They're all so great. I think I'm going to have to wait for financial aid numbers.

If I can say something about UVM as a current student: I don't think you'll find any better financial aid support than you will at UVM. Be certain to not only look at the financial aid numbers, but also at the support that the financial aid office gives to students. I can guarantee that you'll revisit your financial aid status several times each year during med school. Coming from California, I didn't expect to get any type of aid, but the financial aid office at UVM has been amazingly supportive in getting me the aid I needed. If you've interviewed there, you know who I am talking about.

One thing though, if you end up at Iowa... When you're doing your clerkships, the folks from Iowa City might know what a pig is, but a farmer will give you a blank stare. They rear hogs.

(This seriously happened, folks. They even had TV ads with a silhouette of a girl pole dancing. Completely back-fired.)

It's been known and I have been told that it does occasionally happen, but it has not happened this year. At least, not yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Same for me too...qualified/alternate list. Mary told us at our orientation first thing on interview day that most people get waitlisted so late in the game...I interviewed Feb. 21 but was still hoping for more. Good luck everybody! i am sure it will start movin soon. 🙂

You'll have to wait for the letter to find out. I'm pretty sure that your message means EITHER acceptance or rejection, hopefully an acceptance for you!! If you were waitlisted, it would specifically say so. Good Luck!

From my back-and-forth emails with the admissions office, I found out that the waitlist IS ranked, but will not be ranked until the beginning of May. Waitlist movement wont begin (for the majority of pple) until May15th. They will not tell you where you are on the list until they are finished ranking, and will not give any information about prior waitlists because they feel those lists in the past are not indicative of future movement.....so yes, all in all a frustrating process. Been on the list since Feb, good luck!!

This is depressing because UVM is absolutely my dream school, and I can't stand my home state of SC. Sigh... I guess at the end of the day, an MD is an MD.

Don't be so hard on yourself. While your undergrad was less than stellar you certainly seemed to have proven yourself as a grad student, which gives you a significant advantage over those without advanced degrees.

Furthermore, you expressed that you had a great deal of patient contact and neither of the other two schools you interviewed at rejected you.

How well do you feel your interview went?

I don't mean to give you a false sense of hope, but I think you have to consider these facts before you give up on the belief that you still have a shot.

I know how stressed out I was when that was all I had . . . I loved UVM but got into another great school so I am going to take myself off the waitlist.
I just thought letting you all know might help alleviate the stress a little (but probably not at all, I know).
