This question says that you can get enophtalmos from the orbital floor fracture which would impair superior gaze. why is superior gaze affected if the inferior rectus muscle gets trapped? Wouldn't that impair downward gaze?

it actually is the inferior rectus that is trapped.. the reason you can't look up is b/c the inferior rectus is stuck. Think of it like if you have a rope attached to the bottom of the object and one attached to the top, if the bottom rope gets stuck you can't pull the object upwards. Hope that makes sense haha! Its confusing though b/c i know what you're thinking is that if the inferior rectus is stuck its not going to work but thats not exactly whats happening

Ah...like its contracture almost and won't elongate? That makes sense (I just got this question too and was wondering about it

Yeah I got this question too and like you I was confused because the explanation was not great. Thanks @amberkre that's a good way to think about it!

I was really confused about this when we learned it for one of my class exams and that was the way the neurologist teaching explained it and i thought it made total sense after that, hope it helps!
