Uw Class Of 2011 Acceptance Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
hotrod0917, when did you get accepted?

I haven't...🙂 But still thinking positive.

Rennoz- yea, i'll be backpacking. For now, it'll be about a month &half. I've never been, so it'll be quite an experience. South E. Asia huh? Are you from there?

no need to buy loupes until after first year for those of you who were asking, especially since the reps come around, buy you lunch, and have lower prices for dental students. if you have any questions about anything, feel free to email me at [email protected] congrats everyone 🙂

last thursday was kinda "quiet." hopefully many of us still waiting will hear back this week!!

drinking worked out fine for me, but my girl did all the praying and exerrcising 😀

So anyone new being added on to this list??

What do people think are expected # of spots open right now??

Congradulations to all those accepted to UW, you are going to love it. I will be one of your anatomy tutors for the condensed course and I expect you all to keep up the tradition on kicking the med students trash. If you have any questions at all just shoot them my way.

I can answer questions too 🙂 Good luck to you all and looking forward to meeting you at the spring BBQ in May or next fall!! [email protected]

Hmm... I suppose I'll give it a few more days before asking the office about it. Thanks MrTeeth! And now back to watching 24...😀

I haven't received anything in the mail either. It's nice that the deposit is only $100...also the deadline is relatively late compared with other schools who usually require it with your letter of intent.
So lanikai79, are you ready to leave the sunshine in Hawaii for the PacNW?? You still have a few months🙂

Yes, $100 in May is pretty sweet👍

The sunshine will always be here and I will always love coming home to it during Xmas break! 😛 It did rain 40+ days straight here last year, so that was sort of a warm up! Hopefully summer will still be around when I get to Seattle to ease me into PacNW living. Where can I buy a North Face jacket?

I was snooping around the UWSOD website and saw that this year's freshmen spent the first day of orientation at cabins in Pack Forest... Sounds fun! I wonder if it'll be the same for us...

Yea, the first years spend the first day and a half at pack forest which is in the foothills of mt. rainier. It is like sixth grade camp almost with cabins and a mess hall, bonfires, and fun activities. You get some short lectures on financial stuff, ethics, and all that misc. stuff but then the class of 2010 peer advisors will have a bunch of get to know you games and team building activities so you can start off dental school on a relaxed and fun note. There are lots of great memories and the night is wrapped up with plenty of alcohol (FREE!!) and crazy games. Then reality hits a few days later as you spend 8+ hours with your cadaver.

I will be attending uw this upcoming fall......I'm super excited to meet everyone🙂

Congratulations americano!👍 Were you recently accepted or are you just posting now from a while ago?

Congrats again to everyone! And, yes, we should definitely get a facebook group for our class if there isn't one already.

🙂 yeah, definitely need something to pass the time at my job...it is so boring.
hmm, from the email it looks like the class is finally filled, or at least there was a good number who got the message...

So I was wondering, who has been accepted or put a deposit in, but still contemplating or waiting for other school??

Sorry for so many questions, but I heard a few more than 55 offer of acceptance are given, and there are people who are also wait listed. So who gets in first? The waitlists, or people with offer of acceptances? I know it sounds obvious, but I wanted to make sure.
Also, once wait lists are given out, are there 55 spots reserved by those who were accepted, and there are no longer any extra offer of acceptances out? I mean if there were more than 55 given out, and if all 55 filled up, where would those people with the acceptances, but have not turned in their deposits, go? And doesn't it seem trivial to have extra offer of acceptances and a wait list?
Sorry for this questions again, but something I was wondering...😳

Okay, this is how I think it works:

UW gives out acceptances to 55-65 people who they feel are qualified. However, not every student will accept the offer. In addition, the admissions committee makes up a waitlist. On the waitlist are people who the adcom thought were missing one or two elements, but were still very qualified. Once uw receives final answers from the initial 55-65 ppl (hence the purpose of response deadlines), uw then looks to their waitlist to fill the remainder of their class.
Not too many people reject an uw acceptance, so the waitlist tends to move slowly. But a couple of people are taken off the list per year.
GOOD LUCK to those still waiting! There is still time =)

Thanks Americano. BTW sweet name. I'm pretty much addicted to americano.
Well I've also heard that AADSAS tells the name of people with multiple acceptances to their schools at May 1st, so I guess things will really start finalizing next month...
But then again, waiting is super hard...🙂 🙂

I was in the office of admissions yesterday paying off my lab fees and they had a completed list of 55 persons for the incoming class of 2011. The list was so the current first years could select their "little sibling" if they had any preference. Sorry to anyone still waiting but things look pretty finalized.

Well that's a bummer. i guess I should get ready for next cycle.🙂

Has anyone been accepted or heard of anyone being accepted from waitlist??

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I have the complete class list right in front of me so it doesn't look like there will be any movement on the waiting list this year.

I guess things are never final until orientation. I'M IN!!!!😀 👍

Congratulations!!! that's a great news and hope for all of US!!!!😀

although cl24uw06 has the list of incoming first years, that doesn't mean anything is final. they give the first year class a list of the probable incoming first years so they can pair up into big-little sibs, plan the BBQ, as well as orientation. that's not to say some of those on the list wont drop, change their minds, etc. As I said earlier, we had someone in our class accepted within a few weeks of orientation (which is in August). Don't totally give up, best of luck to you all still on the waiting list 🙂

Just wanted to thank fellow SDN'ers who've beeen a tremendous help throughout the app cycle. Alas, I'm in!!!!!!😀
See ya guys in fall.

congrats!! feel free to shoot me an email with any questions 🙂

I got in last week from the list too. Do we have a class website? facebook/myspace? I saw a link above but it for the 2007 class.
