Program-Specific Info / Q's UW MOT Fall 2019 Seattle

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Can anyone who went to the info session for accepted students share their thoughts? I was waitlisted at UW so I wasn't invited, but I want to be prepared in case I get off the waitlist and need to make a quick decision.
I went and enjoyed it. If you are taken off the waitlist I would recommend asking any questions you have. The current students at the event were really friendly, as well as the faculty. The program only has one classroom and is only 24 students, so it is definitely a close-knit environment.

Has anyone on the waitlist heard from UW? Since the deposits were due last Friday, I expect some of us might hear about changes to the waitlist this week.

I am also on the waitlist and haven’t heard back yet! Was planning on asking people on this thread later in the week, so thanks for starting this question! I really hope we hear back this week, the wait is so hard :/ but based on what I’ve read from previous years it seems like the waitlist acceptance process trickles over the course of multiple weeks

I'm waitlisted too, and no word yet. If it is like previous years it may take a few more days until they start calling people form the waitlist. Hope we hear something soon!

I have been pulled out of the waitlist this morning. I wish you all good luck.

I have been living in Sesttle for 5 years if anybody has any questions regarding the city, neighboods, public transport and things like that feel free ask.

Congrats!! 🙂 That is great news!

I've also lived in Seattle for the past 3 years and Tacoma for the 4 years before that, so I can also answer questions about the city 🙂 I've also worked at the UW med center for the past 3 years so if anyone has UW-specific questions I can do my best!

I am familiar with the Seattle area as I have visited a few times during the 6 years I’ve been in Eugene, OR. But i’d love any recommendations you have for where would be good to live. I am gonna be moving up with my partner and we would be looking for a 1-2 bedroom. I have a car and don’t mind a commute, as long as it isn’t over 30-40min! If you have general ideas about areas to look into or avoid let me know 🙂

Hi!! I am wondering how you like the UW med center and the campus in general? What is the overall vibe of the student body/staff/physical campus??

I really like it! The medical center is pretty huge, but there is a library and multiple cafeterias and coffee stands throughout the building so there is not a huge need to go other places on campus. The campus is SO beautiful, especially in the spring/summer. The building of the med center itself is pretty old, but it's fine. The overall vibe is pretty laid back. There is a lot to do within a mile or so of campus. I've had a great experience working there, and I am excited to be a student!

That all sounds so amazing and makes me even more excited!! How exciting for you too to get to be a student after working there. Thanks for the inside scoop! Haha

Can you please share when the deadline for you to decide is? I am still on the waitlist and am trying to get an idea of when the third round might go out.

Definitely! 🙂 Another great thing about the location of the UWMC is there is a light rail stop right across the street and a large bus stop in front of the hospital, which makes using public transportation to get around the greater Seattle area super convenient and easy!

Hi! I was taken off the waitlist last Friday morning and I had to let them know by tomorrow (April 2nd) @ 8am. So the next round will probably be out in the next couple days 🙂

Hi! I was taken off the waitlist this morning and they gave me till Monday at 8am to make a decision. I’m going to accept but for those still on the waitlist it is moving fast so hang in there, your time will come soon!

The waitlist is still moving! I just got taken off this morning! OT425 is right. Your time is coming!

My interview was actually on Skype. They didn’t invite me to an on campus interview, just asked me to Skype with the director of the program. I really enjoyed talking with him though and enjoyed hearing about his experience as an OT in mental health.

Hi! Sorry I know your post was from last year but I got an skype interview with Pacific and haven't really seen many people talking about that on here and i saw your post so I thought I'd give it a shot! Do you have any tips or advice on having the skype interview? Do you remember any specific questions they ask that stood out to you or any other supplemental portion besides the skype call? Any information would be appreciated, thanks!! 😊

I did a few interviews so I can’t remember specifically but it was pretty causal and the professor who did it was very nice and had a unique background in mental health. They asked the usual questions of why I was interested in OT and that school specifically. I believe they did a timed write as well, but I can’t remember what the subject was.
