Eventually I will be taking and NBME exam to see where im sitting, but for now i would like to try and use UW to track my progress. So far my scores seem to be all over the place. Does anyone know what exactly people are posting when they state their UW % and Step I correlate. Is it their most recent UW% per block or is it their their final ave. percentile? Also if you recycle your incorrect questions and answer them correct does this change your overall ave?

Most people post both the average of the last 5-6 blocks as well as their overall average. If you only see one number, then I would assume they meant their overall average.

Honestly, unless you're consistently pulling in sub-50% and you're more than 1/2 way through qbank/UW... I wouldn't get caught up in percentages.

yes your %tile will increase if you recycle qs and get them right, however , in order to have a drastic difference and improvement in the cum. %tile you would really need to do all the 2000+qs twice at least.

i went thro UW fully once and my %tile was 68% i think...continued for another week and did all the wrong qs plus the right ones which i got right the first time and finished it 72%
and i had about 800-900 or so wrong, so as you can see it really takes a lot to really affect the initial %tile

Thanks for the replies. I'll definately try to not focus too much on the % as much as I will for learning from the incorrect questions. I just didnt want to be either over confident or underconfident based on them. Again thanks for the info.

I wish there was some way of translating UW scores into USMLE scores. I hate to pay for NBME's just to see where I am standing when I can actually review the answers on UW.

I'm averaging 60% on 50 q blocks, with 3 weeks to go.

With 3 weeks to go i am still stuck in the 40's on timed random 50 q blocks on uslme world, not sure if i should postpone. I guess i might have to shell out the $45 in a week to avoid a disaster, anyone has any explanations or advise😕

I'm in a similar boat but have 1 week to go. Does anyone know how similar the UW questions are to the real thing? I've been doing a mix of Kaplan of UW, but much more UW than Kaplan. I may do an NBME exam this week too.

imo, uw is on the harder spectrum of qs on the real exam

I definately agree on how bad it sucks to shell out more cash just for 1 NBME test, but unfortunately its better to be safe than sorry and hey whats another 45$ on top of 250K. As far as the UW correlation with USMLE scores goes i think your % needs to be fairly consistent to judge this(most of mine arent), but in general ive head 70% ave = 240+

In order not to hate yourself after test, take NBME's 😉
