At Wisconsin you are required to shadow. You will get a "blue sheet" your first year and a "green sheet" your second year with a checklist of things that you have to see and get signed off on. You don't have to schedule, just show up and use your judgment if this is a good time to ask if you can observe. Most people are receptive, some moreso than others.Do any applicants (or current students) have a good feel for how easy it is to get shadowing experiencing in the hospital during our "free time"? Are the faculty/staff receptive, schedule ahead of time or just drop in, etc.?
