Just wondering what a good uworld average to be getting on first pass is? Honestly I hate uworld it takes me forever to go through. Not sure what to do as obviously it's an important tool and needs to be done completely.

Uworld has a function where you can see this in graph form

Sent from my iPhone using SDN mobile app

first pass. averaging 77%. have completed 75% of UW. exam is with in 2 months. but i agree with pd1112 , it is learning tool. not for assesment

I heard the average for all students is 50-60% is this correct and ok (or worrisome)?
It actually says 50-60% on their website..

It depends on where you're at in your studies. If you're >6weeks out and on your first pass, sure 50's is fine. If you're like a month from the exam than its a problem.

Also, idk how accurate the 50-60 being average actually is. Most of the question sets I do show peer average >60; usually between 60 and 65.

There was this website mentioned in another thread a few days ago. I agree UW is not for assessment purposes but my score was predicted exactly based on my first pass overall percentage.

Did you use any of the other columns or just uworld.

If that is true for me, I'm gonna be one happy camper.
Just UW. Too many variables with it though. I still think the average of your last few NBMEs is generally the most predictive.

I came onto the forums today to make a post and decided this post was even better. I was reflecting on my USMLE score because today I'm meeting with the IM chair to discuss my future. Let me tell you something. My uWORLD and NBOME scores were SUBSTANTIALLY higher than my actual real test score. I was still happy with my score but I would've done even better with a different mentality. And I'll tell you why. I concentrated way to much on my UW percentage scores. Now, if you are using UW correctly, and scoring high, great. But you must do a few things. As people have said, use it to learn. Read every question and answers and somehow keep track of important points that you missed. Also, I feel it's best to use uWORLD in timed mode, and random questions. Its the only way to prepare for the length of the USMLE questions. Even the NBOME's don't simulate the actual test in my opinion, especially with the recent change of longer stems and 44 questions. It's certain possible to feel like you have plenty of time on the NBOMEs but feel rushed on the exam. So don't focus on the UW percentages. Focus on learning the material, and getting your testing endurance / reading speed down. At least that's my take from experience.

When people here post their average performance on UWorld do they use the percentage of the questions they got correctly or the performance percentile that UWorld provides?

There are so many threads about this sort of thing but there is never any consistency in reporting details so its pretty much useless.

Did you do in random? Timed untimed? At what stage of your preparation?

My impression is that alot of people don't do random (atleast on 1st pass)

dayum, you guys are all so smart.
I started at 45% 3 weeks ago (like 20 Q/day); just started dedicate period yesterday - I'm at 65% ish. I'm about 25% done with Uworld. Step in about 1 month.

I need to stop browsing SDN - too many smart people.

Dude that's how I feel. SDN is full of gods. Not a place for us mere mortals. I've learned a lot from SDN though.

Stay on SDN.

Stay on SDN. Just push yourself and be inspired to pursue something which felt like a dream only. Break 250 and amaze your friends

UWorld is demoralizing. After scoring upper 70s on Rx, now I'm scoring upper 50s on UWorld.

This is my third day using UWorld. I do random untimed tutor mode. On my first day I got 68% and was feeling good about it. Yesterday and today I got 59%. I feel like I want to punch the computer screen sometimes. What frustrates me the most is that I rarely miss qs due to not knowing the answer. It's mostly because I get swayed by the incorrect answer responses. Hopefully my performance improves soon.

In my experience, NBME'S are a far better predictor of real step 1 scores that UWORLD percentages, my last NBME, which was 17, taken 2 days before my test, was exactly the same score I got on step 1.

What were your Uworld %ages (qbank)

80% is super high for a first pass, especially if it's random timed. I only hope I get close to 70% towards the end of it.

IMO the best way to judge Uworld score is as a percentile vs your peers , since everyone uses this qbank before Step 1 , and step 1 is also graded vs your peers . So if in your final blocks you are around let's say 84th percentile , that should correspond to like 250 ( which is around 84th percentile on step 1 ) give or take a rather big standard error .

Still , it's best to give the extra bucks for NBME's , since they seem to predict almost perfectly for like 90% of ppl

I was going to settle for a 270 but I'm going to aim for 280
I love the wit of some of the posters on the forum.

Yeah I am of this mind too, but I think we are in the minority on this forum. 80% on your first run is like normal on SDN, but I find it to be pretty absurd, speaks volumes about how good the students are on here. To put in perspective, 80% correct is around the 90th percentile (top 10%) of all users on World.

It's in the 90th percentile including people who retake, use tutor mode, and do blocks of one subject. It's insanely good. I hope to be hitting 70% regularly by the end of my first pass, I'm between 60-70 right now most of the time but this is after completing all of Kaplan. Yay for my first week of dedicated, three more to go, fingers crossed that my Step score doesn't end up looking like a dumpster fire.

UW is a great learning tool. It suck as an assessment tool, though. And yes, I tip my hat to anyone who scores above 80% on their Qbank during their first pass.

You supposed to use your first or second pass?
