I am having trouble getting through 1 question set of Uworld (46 questions) and going over it in a reasonable amount of time. Takes me about 5-6 hours to do it. I need to cut this time down so I can get to studying large chunks of material from FA and Pathoma daily.

I obviously owe this to me doing pretty poorly on the question sets so I have to basically learn everything that I get wrong but should I just gloss over the questions I got right (just read education objective) and move on? I really want to do Uworld and learn the material so that my Uworld score will go up eventually.

Any advice would help.

Taking Comlex on June 22, and Usmle on July 29.

You definitely need to read over every explanation, including the wrong answer choices, and figure out and understand why you got the question wrong.

UW is gold, and at least for me, doing many questions is the most efficient way to learn.

Try to cut your time down to about 3.5-4 hours per block and it will be more manageable.

I haven't done Uworld yet, but I have read that it's slow when you first start going through the explanations, but as you learn and see similar material multiple times then you can start going through the explanations faster.

This is probably heresy... but honestly, I think you can still do well if you simply know the right answer and ignore a lot of the explanations. Sure, there's a lot of thinking on STEP 1. And then there's a lot of pattern recognition that you can only truly get from a massive **** ton of questions or reading a study source multiple times. They don't care how much background information you have, just that you know the right answer.

It definitely saves time. If you don't give a crap about knowing every word in the explanation, going through a block in less than an hour isn't unreasonable. Especially on the second or third pass.

It took me 5-6 hours my first pass through. I would try to read as many explanations as you can. I went through it with a fine tooth comb the first time and now the 2nd time I'm still picking up on tidbits that explain things.

If you're really pressed for time, even if you get it right, atleast skim the other choice explanations. 1) they teach you 2) helps you establish the differential -> leads to better understanding of the disease process. For example Atopic dermatitis vs allergic contact dermatitis. Do they sound similar? Hell yea they do. Will a difficult question have them both in the differential? Probably.

Well, I want to finish it by the end of the month and have 63% of the bank left right now. Doing 46 questions a day prob wont do it for me but ill have at least done about 3/4 of it and i guess leave the last 1/4 for after the Comlex and thatll hopefully give me enough time for a 2nd pass through it.

I just want to be able to balance a question set, and study a chunk of material from FA/Pathoma/Flashcards daily. I guess it really is being incredibly efficient with your time.

If only I didnt have to sleep

It's really time-consuming in the beginning, but you gotta grit your teeth and get through it! You are learning and linking so many FA and Pathoma concepts through those questions 🙂

Also, when I get bogged down, I like to read the educational objective before anything else because it's the bottom line..

Agree, it kind of puts thing in perspective before getting into the nitty gritty
