UWorld or USMLErx: Which to do first?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Rx is a great tool to study First Aid or quiz your recall of First Aid.

Uworld is more integrated and resembles Step 1 much more than First Aid. It's not impossible to learn from, but you'll get much more out of Uworld if you come in with a decent base because Uworld will assume you have a baseline knowledge.

They serve two entirely different purposes.

UWorld>gold for step study. Save it for your dedicated 4-6 weeks before you take your quiz. Use other qbanks up until that point.

I wouldn't do either right now, but if you're going to use one now, use Rx for sure. I used Rx to study for my classes 2nd semester and found it to be a great study tool.

It's not a question of one or the other. Do both. Rx first.

Save UWorld for dedicated Step 1 studying

Def save UW for dedicated studying time for Step.

I thought people do UWorld during second semester of the school year?

Depends how confident you are in your knowledge and if you have a good base. I really don't see the disadvantage in starting up UWorld prior to "crunch time" and getting exposure. It will even leave the possibility of seeing every question twice. I intend on doing most of the UWorld questions by organ systems and subject by the time dedicated study comes along; then wiping the history on the Qbank and retesting myself in blocks of 46 with random questions. This way I will have seen the questions before and have vague familiarity, but will see the questions as they will actually be on the test. I've heard the only true correlation with study time and step scores is the amount of questions you get through and understand. I believe this to be valid because I personally learn a lot more by reading explanations to the right answers and referencing that against the explanations on why the wrong choices are wrong.

Just started looking over FA 2014. I think it is best to use Rx to solidify what you are reviewing in FA. It is easy to read over something and say I got that. But, answering questions about it really lets you know where you are. I found that strategy to be best for MCAT and same for Step 1 thus far.

I plan to get a good base of knowledge doing FA and Rx along with DIT until Spring Break. Then, do a complete review of FA during Spring Break and then conclude with practice test and hope to be around 210.

I plan to do around a 6 week dedicated study. And begin Uworld, DIT Step 2, and one more review of FA with annotatations along with some practice exams thrown in.
