I wonder of there is a correlation between your last few random timed uworld blocks and nbme or uwsa exam scores.

If you have at least gone through approx half of uworld, what is your most recent percentages like? What is your nbme or uworld self assessment score like. It woould be cool if there was a correlation.

am pretty sure there is a positive correlation, how far are you into uw badass? am 50% through now, will take an nbme after am completely done, i took one before starting uw so will see in a few weeks how much i improved

Someone came up with the formula UW%x2.4+84=Step 1 score which would indicate the two are linearly linked, but I don't know if that's based on any data or is just a super rough approximation. After I'm done doing my Taus-ish pass, I'll see how well it holds up. Here's hoping it's accurate since that'd put me in the 250 range...:xf:

I'm sure there is a relationship, albeit not perfect.

My progression (from earliest to latest):
NBME 4 (255) --> NBME 6 (260) --> UWSA2 (800/265)
UW 80% done at 85%.

There is some kind of correlation, but it also probably depends on how you do the questions in UW.
If you are doing untimed, subject based, right after you study that material, I would think you scores would be a lot higher than if you are doing random, timed.

I'd say to just use the qbanks in whatever way helps you learn and retain the material the best. If you keep learning and challenging yourself you will do the best that you can. Just use the practice exams UW, NBME, whatever, as your guide to approximate where your score is.

I finished it with 76% correct overall, but the last week's tests I averaged about 82%-ish. I took the CBSE and got a 265/98 a few weeks back, and I took the UWorld Self Assessment last Friday with a 260/740-- if that helps at all...

Well it helps. But when you are getting to the peak ends of high scores, I don't know how helpful it is, lol. Good job though!

I was hoping to hear more from people in the 2teens to 240's range. Although this might be hard to find, since this is SDN afterall.

Also just want to base it off your random timed blocks of 48.

I'm not too far in. I just started on Sunday, 2 blocks per day. So I'm about 300 in so far. Will be around 400 by the end of today. I have yet to hit a total "wtf" block. Even when I feel like it is a 'wtf' block, I still end up at least 10% above the average score for that block. I'm taking it as a good sign, but I don't know how good..... Stupid Free150, I really just want to know where I really stand. I'm just trying to be conservative and say my score is 20 points lower than the free 150's prediction.

It would be cool to pool together some data points though for this Uworld % correct (random timed blocks only of course) and our NBME/UWSA trends. I think the average of the past 7-8 random blocks completed would be good data points to correlate with practice tests.

I am just over halfway done with UW with an average of 69%, just took nmbe 5 and got 247(610)

I feel like an outlier...

but I finished UWorld with 61% (but i did 700Qs before studying with classes)
Only towards the VERY end did i get low 70s.

NBME 7 - 242
Free150 - 81% ~ 240

I took the real exam yesterday. Hoping for 240!

I'm right there with you on the percentages. I think I'm at 59% overall, but I basically scored the same as you on the Free 150. I have yet to take an NBME or UWSA, though, so we'll see how those go. My UW percentages also happen to be all over the freaking map at the moment. Just to give you an idea of what I mean, here are my last 8 block scores, in order: 91, 95, 68, 60, 72, 55, 75, 50. All of those have been random question neurology blocks, and the first ridiculous scores in the 90's weren't composed of questions I remembered or had missed or anything - same format for all of them. I'm sticking with the "if you're learning, your percentage doesn't matter" philosophy.

Same here.. I'm doing questions by system and my percentages are sometimes all over the place. I just try to stay above the average percent correct. If I was doing all timed random then it would be different.. but I can't study like that.

did you take an nbme before starting uw? if you did what was the score?
I took nbme 4 during spring break with minimal review of ms1 stuff and before we covered GI and skin in my path class and got a 212. After that I started UW with averages in the low 60s (untimed/random) and now my scores are mid 70s (timed/random).

For those of you who are doing UWorld by systems right now, are you ever going to move to totally random blocks? I was thinking of doing random now on my 2nd pass, but after doing one today, I realize it would probably be a lot more beneficial to stick to subjects and maybe move to random for my last 2 weeks. Thoughts?

If I had time to do a 2nd run I would do it random timed instead of by systems.

if you do random timed the second run through, how do you keep from repeating some questions multiple times?

The first time through you can click "unused, random" and the program won't repeat, but the only way I've found to do every question again (other than marking and unmarking all of them..) is to go by specific systems that have < 48 questions per catagory..

😕 Not sure. I think you would have to do the marking/unmarking method or just buy a brand new subscription to UW.

the marking/unmarking method
Indeed! Also, you'll find that there are very few systems that have over 48 questions per subject. I think the count is 4-5 in all, and since 2 of them have something like 90 questions, you can do 2 blocks for those without getting too many repeats. It seems to be working out for me pretty well so far.

Don't mean to highjack, but seems like most people are doing system based ?s from UW and saving random for later on. Since I started (about 1 week now) I've been doing random blocks of 48 everytime. I figured it would help me prep better for when I got to the information with DIT. Is this a mistake? Would I be better off only doing questions based on the info I went over that day? I just feel like it wouldn't be a real assessment of what I learned.

its not a mistake to do random, do whatever you are comfortable with, i have been doing mine random also and dont see any downside, except the fact that you have to flip around FA a lot, but i have my FA well labeled with stickies so am usually where i want to be in two flips

dang i shoulda thought to put stickies on my stuff good idea.

i did mine random. Thats what you're gonna see on the test. If you know the subject matter i think it gives u an advantage cause you can narrow down the choices- thats a crutch you wont have on the real test
