Hi everyone,
In reference to uworld's Qid 1044 that asks which step requires pantothenate, I was wondering why can't the answer, "Glucose to ribose-5-P" be correct; the reaction from glucose -- ribulose 5 p --- ribose 5p requires transketolase, right? And transketolase requires B1, 2, 3, 5 and lipoic acid (B5 is pantothenate)...so why not?

Ans is OAA to citrate which reqires Acetyl coa.

Thanks in advance

Transketolase requires just b1, not all of the others.

The only complexes that require all 5 should be Pyruvate dehydrogenase, a-ketogluterate dehyrdrogenase, and branched chain amino acid dehydrogenase
