Hey Everybody,

I'm about four months out from Step 1 and just purchased UWorld today. I'm planning on doing ~20 questions in tutor mode per day up until I start dedicated, at which point I'll reset and start doing timed practice tests.

Quick question: when should one take the UWorld self-assessments? Is it better to do them now-ish or should they be saved until the dedicated study period?

Thanks!

-Bill

If you have already began studying for step 1 and familiar with the way the questions are asked take form 1 now to know where you stand. If uworld is your first preparation then save it until you feel familiar with the questions and scoring near 70%. In both cases don't depend on uwsa alone , mine was 241 and nbmes were around 225 both taken in same month.

Thanks, ASM student.

Follow-up question: when should one go about taking the NBMEs? I was hoping to take three before Step in May. Should I start taking them during dedicated or considerably earlier?

I've taken my first nbme after 1st pass through FA and about 20% of uworld. I'm from the middle east and there is quite a gap between our exams and study materials and those for the boards, so if your school prepares you in a way or another for step 1 I think you should take it earlier.
