For those of you that have done UWorld and NBME exams, how close is UWorld to the style of the real exam?

Sometimes it's asking questions that are so detailed and nuanced, I feel like it's a waste of opportunity on the test makers part to assess my actual medical knowledge. I'm talking about questions where you see based on the percentages that everyone picked a random answer.

Also, are those percentages near each choice during review the performance of students overall, or in timed mode only?

I took the exam 4 days ago and having solved UWorld I can sincerely tell you that UWorld is tougher but I can understand that since it is a learning tool rather than an assessment. For assessment purposes you should do NBMEs as those are written by the people who write the exams. Again UWorld is a learning tool that's why you run across a bunch of wtf questions in every block you solve and I'm not saying you won't see those in the exam but overall I'd consider the exam questions much more similar to NBME questions with regards to difficulty and length but UWorld definitely adds to your fund of knowledge and makes you more oriented with regards to how you should approach the questions. About the percentages thing, I honestly have no idea but I always that it's just the percentage of people who answered that specific answer, but don't get too hyped about that because I remember solving some questions which were pretty difficult and getting them wrong then to my surprise I'd find out that 100% got it right!! So study well, read the explanations and best of luck.
