VA CBOC

PM'ed. And good luck getting through the freeze.

Ugh another freeze??? No wonder we aren't having any of our positions posted (except business manageer, the tasks of which could probably be split up by associate chiefs/chief if needed...go figure...).

I guess it depends on your local region. We have expanded in the past year and hired a few new pharmacists and have replaced the ones that left (for other VA jobs)

How many pharmacists usually work at the CBOC?

It's getting worse rather than better. We're getting direct political pressure to change, and I agree. We're basically lying to Congress about our manpower issues right now as we're actually lower than last year for the critical positions (Psychiatry is in the worst sport with General Surgery and both Hospitalist and Primary Care for the IM/FP specialties being repeatedly mentioned).

We have 4 CBOC pharmacists at my facility. Basically all of their work is done remotely from our main medical center and they do not travel. They manage diabetes, hypertension, CHF, and any other issues/questions that come up, process clinic orders/ PYXIS issues....so it is basically identical to what our primary care pharmacists do, just remotely.
