VA eligibility requirements? Can I still submit?

When applying for a VA position (or any other fed job), they ask you specific eligibility requirements like if you are currently licensed and board certified. If you select no, your application will not move forward.

I am a current resident and WILL be licensed once I finish residency this summer. Does this mean I have to wait until I'm finished and receive all my certificates BEFORE I can even apply?? This is really inconvenient if true. The application is a really long process.

Any tips or advice will help from current VA docs will help.

I am not VA, and I am sure the OP is beyond help here, but I am posting this for future applicants:

I will give you a piece of wisdom: NEVER lie to the federal government. Beyond never lying on an official document in general. It will catch up with you and destroy your career. Always answer the question honestly, to the best of your knowledge, as it applies at the time the form is filled out.

The answer to those questions, as quoted, is clearly NO.

I recommend reaching out to the specific clinic at the VA where you are applying to let them know of your interest. The system is designed as one-size-fits-all, but that doesn't always work. I've been on the hiring side for federal government jobs and if there aren't qualified candidates (with prior VA experience or veteran preference) in front of you, they may be able to wait for your license and board certification. It never hurts to ask.
