Does anyone know of any programs that have unfilled slots after this year's match?

Guess there is a little interest in obtaining a PhD during residency. It probably doesn't help that eyeSTAR program is particularly selective either. Don't they usually only take 2 residents per year anyway?

I think they take one a year and interview a couple of highly qualified applicants with a lot of research experience, who can easily opt for a top notch regular residency.

What's the timeline for scramble? When do people apply and find out? So Jules Stein will take someone who didn't match or do some matched people scramble for these spots too?

There's not a second match so they can accept anyone or no one at all at any time. You would have to contact the program directly to find out the timeline.

Matched people cannot scramble into a different program. They are contractually obligated to go to wherever they matched.
