Hey guys,

I'm starting as a PGY1 Anesthesia this July and I have an elective period. I was wondering what you guys think is a valuable elective to do longterm? I enjoy critical care, so I was thinking of doing another ICU rotations - but I have ~6 months of ICU as a senior resident in my third year so it might be overkill.

My schedule is like this:

4 periods of anesthesia
2 EM
1 ICU (combined Med/Surg)
1 CCU
1 Surgery
2 OBGYN
1 NICU
1 Elective

Sorry if this was answered elsewhere, did a quick search but it's mostly Med4 stuff.

Thanks for the advice!

wow that sounds like a pretty intense intern year. with six months of ICU as a senior and three as an intern you will have ICU coming out the @ss. how about taking the easiest elective you can find and take step 3 during this time

Yeah do something easy but topical...research month (aka data entry on some BS CA-2's project that you're able to jump in on), cards or pulm consults, or ENT maybe if the hours are good
