I'm taking a few days off from school in July to see family in LA and I'd like to use that time to visit USC and UCLA GPRs. However, I'm traveling to spend time with family - and I've heard/read that program visits typically last a half or full day - which I just won't have the time for.

Beyond learning more about the residencies, I want the visit to convey my strong interest in these programs. So I ask... Do y'all think it's worth it to contact these program directors about scheduling brief (~1hr) visits?

If you're going, I'd say you'd need to stay for at least 2-3 hours, most of which will be standing over a residents shoulder and shadowing, which is very boring, but yes, haha. Any less than that will have you as risk for being remember as "that guy that popped in really quickly."

I agree with what Vicviper mentioned, usually if an applicant wants to come visit my site, I recommend staying at least half of the day.
