This is how I understood VP.
Any molecule who has any kind of intermolecular force (which all do have), they are going to have VP. Imagine like something is pressing on top of them and stopping them from escape. Your imaginary pressure from top is the VP.
Imagine this, if you increase the temp then there is a more chance that molecule will escape and that's why you need more VP from top to keep them from escaping. That is why they say increase in temp, increase VP. When molecule have enough energy to escape it will over come your pressure (i.e. VP) and that's what BP is all about.
