Super excited- Interviewing here next week! VCOM is my number one choice 🙂.
 
I'm still waiting to be complete after submitting my secondary. Not feeling great about getting an invite for interview though because of my MCAT. 2nd year applying to this school.

cGPA: 3.855, sGPA: 3.72 MCAT: 22Q, 21O 🙁
 
Anyone set up housing for next year yet? I am trying to find a place that allows a cat, not declawed, and having a hard time.

You defintley have a chance. Your gpa makes up for your MCAT in VCOM's minds.. Now, hopefully the rest of your stuff plays in your favor.
 
I also have a lower MCAT, should I still submit the secondary??

GPA: 3.6 cum, 3.33 sci, and 23 MCAT

I wonder how many seats are filled, is it too late?
 
^^ defintley.. You're science gpa is more concerning to me than mcat. But nonetheless I think u def got a chance

Go back a few pages, a lot has been said about the interview day. It is really laid back and there is absolutely no need to worry/stress about it. You will have a great day and I actually enjoyed my interviews. 🙂
 
Just got the call this morning! Interviewing 12/5 at Virginia Campus!
 
Just submitted my secondary and paid the fee...late I know, I wonder how many seats are still available???

I hope they still interview from now to March at least:/

When were you complete?
 
I recieved the complete email on 11/3.....but I was somewhat complete earlier than that because they were waiting on a DO letter and there was a problem with.

How long does it take to get a complete email following submission of secondary/fee? Usually most schools emailed me the next day saying my file was complete but I didn't get an email from VCOM?

*My letters are in as well.

I never received a complete email from VCOM, I was already accepted here, and I know a few others who didn't as well. Just call Julie she is very nice and will help you out. Good luck!

What do you mean you were already accepted here? Don't you have to interview first? I will call them tomorrow because I believe my file is complete, but want to make sure.

cGPA 3.7 sGPA 3.4 MCAT 22N

I got an interview on the Carolina campus I really wanted the Virginia campus
Do you know if there is any way you can transfer after a year or something?
I really wanted more of a college atmosphere
I talked to Corey from the Carolina campus and he said I’d have to give up the interview with them and go back into the regular applicant pool to try and get an interview for the Virginia campus, so I'm taking the interview for sure
Does anyone know how it works?

Just got my acceptance yesterday. Interviewed this past monday (11/14). Submitted my secondary the last week of october and got a call the following week. Still waiting on my other secondaries though. Hope I can get some more interviews in before I get too close to the acceptance deadline for VCOM...
 
The due date for turning in your deposit check is Dec 15the right? Just want to double check it, I'm definitely pushing it haha.
 
I think Ms. Smartt told me the 14th, I could be wrong though I was tooo excited to think straight 😀!!!!

I have a 3.6 cum science and overall. 24O currently working as a technician in a lab. many letters from physicians, 1 from DO. 60+ hrs clinical work. 20+ shadowing. many more experiences...Have publications and interned at places such as Mayo and UPENN. What do you think?

Absolutely apply. Had a great interview experience there, faculty really took the time to get to know me. Non-academics will help you greatly here. GPA is fine, MCAT is lower than their avg but I talked to students admitted with 24s and 23s. Good luck.

Accepted last Thurs to Virginia campus. Excited! 🙂

Incredible interview experience. I agree that the interviewers are mostly laid back. 😎
 
Hey! I actually go to Virginia Tech right now and I have a kitty cat so I've been through the whole housing situation around Blacksburg. I really recommend Windsor Hills ESPECIALLY for a graduate student such as yourself who will probably be looking for a more quiet area to get work done. Yes, there are some undergrads that live there but it is very quiet and peaceful. Also VERY pet friendly.
 
I submitted my secondary a week ago and they still didn't email me to say my file is complete? When I called, she said my app is gonna be "reviewed for completeness". All the other schools have emailed me the next day after submitting the secondary saying my file is complete....

I really hope they don't get full too early and I can get an interview soon:/

How long does VCOM take to review applications?

VCOM is fairly quick in comparison to other schools when it comes to getting back to you, in my personal experience anyways. It took about 2 weeks for me to get a response after my complete email (It took about a week to be complete after I turned in my secondary). That is fast when you compare it to other schools who take months to get back to you. Good luck 👍
 
Congrats to everyone who have been accepted to VCOM!!! I'm a current 1st year here and you all are making a good choice to come here because it is literally the Ivy League of DO schools.

Hey everyone and congrats to all that have been accepted and stay positive those waiting to hear back! I was accepted on 10/13 this was my top choice and I'm so excited! I finally had the $1500 to send in the deposit this week and am now starting to think about housing, loans, moving, and so much more. Wasn't sure if I missed the official class of 2016 VC forum. Is there one? I'd love to start talking to some confirmed classmates!
 
Can anyone give details on the interview? I know they are going to ask Why DO and Why VCOM, and that everyone says it is laid back..but what else is there? Were there any difficult ethical questions, or questions about the health care crisis? or was it all pretty much like they just want to get to know you? I'm interviewing Tuesday and just want to be prepared..thank you!!!

It was very laid back. You'll do three 1/2 hour interviews with different falculty members, exactly who is doing them changes group to group. They are one-on-one, open file. In my interviews they asked the basics, WHY DO, why VCOM, why medicine. Most of the time they just spent getting to know me, very casual. We talked alot about my interest, hobbies, family, future goals. Nothing difficult, I think there may have been a question like what is the biggest problem facing healthcare or something.As with any school be prepared to talk bout anything abnormal on your app (poor grade, ect) but don't be worried about it, they knew about when they offered you an interview so to them its not a big problem. My advice, RELAX! Its a great school with great falculty. They just want to get to know you.
