Did anyone else get rejected/ waitlisted at VCOM or am I just the only one in this forum that has? I'm frustrated b/c I thought I did everything I needed to. Is there anyone out there in my boat?

VCOM academic hold pending re-evaluation with semester grades... Oh well, I've gotten into other DO schools already.

I didn't apply to the school, but don't feel too bad. I assure you that you're not the only one. People tend to rush to SDN to post good news, but many people never post their bad news (rejections/waitlists) for everybody to see.

🙂 Do you mind me asking what your stats are? I am also on pre interview hold and would like to compare stats to see if I too will be rejected soon. Thanks

pre-interview hold as well...

I did have an interview there, and I found out today that Megan price was sick and she cant even tell me whether I'm in or out. But I'm pretty sure its not good news. I have a 22 on the MCAT and a 3.6 overall GPA and 3.5 science GPA. I worked in a hospital for 2 years with patients. I'm a little bit stunned but not entirely since my MCAT was so low. In addition I didnt put down that I planned to take the MCAT again b/c I really dont want to take it again. That might have cost me in the end too. I must have blown the interview or something. Good luck to everyone who has an interview. Sometimes it doesnt matter how hard you work😕 .

How does that work? Is that the same as a waitlist spot? I could see that happening to me next year. . . . which is why I ask.

I dont believe it is a waitlist spot. I think that you have to interview and then be placed on the waiting list. Dont resign yourself to being on a waiting list. It is NOT the place to be.

My application is still on hold pending committee review since october 30th! Anyone else that far back?

Are you going to Chicago for sure?

Pre-interview hold as well. Ah well... we can't have everything, can we? 🙁

Yeah I got the same letter about being on hold until grades for Fall 06. The hold is a pre interview hold, but I think they are just waiting to reject after they get enough applications. Maybe they are just giving false hope.

I am also a pre-interview hold pending fall grades. However, it took me until today to decided I actually wanted to send the grades, LOL. Now it is probably to late.

Don't be upset about it until you hear. I thought I was on hold there because they took so long to review my file, but I guess I actually wasn't because it seems like you all got letters saying you were on hold. I withdrew in October after my DCOM acceptance. Just so you know, I have a 23Q and a 3.2 and was accepted at two schools and withdrew from a third post-interview. I was rejected at LECOM a week after complete because I had not taken organic chemistry yet. I was "decision deferred" in September at WVSOM, but later withdrew. I withdrew from all the other schools I applied to. All hope is not lost because of your MCAT. I didn't put down that I was retaking it either. THANK GOD I got accepted to a school I love because I really did not want to take that test again. Don't give up yet! Hang in there.:luck: :luck:

LOL! Just send them. You never know, and it certainly won't hurt to do so. I have heard great things about the school too.:luck:

I am on hold too, but never got a letter. Maybe its because its not a grade thing? I am out of college, and they just told me when I called they reviewed my file and decided to neither interview me nor reject me. Who knows...

Hmmm...that's weird. I know they are big on rural medicine and people from the area, so maybe they make everyone else wait.

is there anyone out there who had an interview and didnt get in?

Wait, you guys got an actual letter asking for your fall grades? I only took one class because I graduated in May but I didn't have the grade sent or anything because they didn't ask. It wouldn't help me though. I took biochem and totally screwed around, not a very good grade.

I interviewed there, had what I thought was a good round of interviews, and got a straight up rejection. I am pretty sure it was the two MD's that interviewed me that gave me the thumbs down (Price said my interviews did not go well...they can't handle the truth). They sure do make you feel like you got in, parade you around the town in a van, waste the entire day, smile, blah blah blah. I thought for sure I was in. I had the best letters of recommendation and fell within their average numbers...smile in your face, then stab you in the back. I hope a Hokie ends up on my dinner table this thanksgiving.

PS I'm not bitter

I haven't heard anything since I first submitted my secondary in november.

Same here. It was not an official letter. I emailed Megan Price and she emailed me back with the same information. She recommended that I send a letter of interest/update as that could be helpful. So, if any of you are in the same boat, and really want to go to VCOM, that's what I'd recommend. I think the fact that they are *really* looking for those with a tie to the area may be putting fair number of us at a disadvantage.

Does anyone know when VCOM's next adcom meeting is? Thanks.
