Anyone hear from VCOM yet. Someone from admissions called me yesterday to make sure I had received the secondary application. I told her I had dropped it in the mail yesterday and she said she looked forward to calling me back to schedule my interview once they received it. Anyone else get this call?

Yeah, I did as well. Although, I do not plan on filling out the secondary. I had questions I needed answered, and I e-mailed someone there about them after he told me to do so over the phone, and he never replied. Very unprofessional.

I actually just withdrew my application there. My primary was submitted about two months ago. After that I got an email saying they would review my application to decide whether or not to send me a supplemental. I checked back a few weeks ago and they said they were really busy and still reviewing it. Since I already have my acceptance at DCOM, I don't want to invest any additional money filling out supplemental applications. Anyway, it sounds like they want to interview you so that's great. Good luck!:luck:

This could be a good sign. I received a similar call, straightened things out, interviewed a week later, gained acceptance next day. Good luck!

does anyone know their secondary questions? they're waiting until they get my grades at the end of the semester to decide whether i get a secondary.

For those of you that have interviewed/been accepted...are yall from Virginia or where?

does VCOM not accept people from NC/SC too often? Has anyone from North or South carolina got accepted?

i'm from nc and i'm realllllly hoping to get an interview/accepted 🙂

Yeah they accept from North Carolina... they prefer the Appalachia area.. but you can get in from anywhere I am pretty sure! I loved it there... I go to school at UNC- Chapel Hill and the area there is so neat! I have had people concerned about their reputation since they are so new but I think it is a wonderful place to go and I want to be a part of their beginning. The atmosphere was pleasant and since it is so new, the technology was spectacular as well.

since VCOM is newer it seems like the graduates could have a problem finding decent residencies. I like VCOM a lot but the fact that it is so new makes me nervous. Also, I didnt know that they did the block schedule at VCOM. Do they give you any time off during the summer?seems a bit extreme to me to have class all summer and not graduate earlier.

No real time off for summers. We generally get a week off between each block (so it's either one month on, one week off; or two months on, one week off), and a three week "summer" in August after the first two years. Though for most people, the one after second year is eaten up by board studying. Having come from the traditional semester system, I'm still not sure how I feel about these blocks (as we get ready to enter block 9).

The exact number of days you get off between blocks is 10 days. The good news is that for this year the summer for the finishing 1st years will be almost 5 weeks long. I like the block schedule but then again I came from a quarter system. One of the good things and the reason it will still take 4 years to graduate is because you get more shorter breaks instead of almost 3 months all together in the summer. The short breaks gives you a chance to decompress after the stressful block.
