Hmm...they must really not like me. The earliest I could schedule was January. This is an interesting development.

That's impossible. Are you sure you looked at the dropdown box?
You can schedule it whenever you want, including january, but there were many more choices.

from what i read on the status check site, it seems the available interview spots depends on the interviewer..so maybe my guy/gal has more spots available?

not sure how this works.

The way the interviewing at VCU works is that the faculty submit the dates they can interview, but this doesn't happen all at once, it can happen throughout interview season, so slots can open up at any time in the future. If you get lucky and happen to get an interview invite when an interviewer just opened up dates, then you can get an earlier interview.

BTW when you choose your interview date, they also let you choose between 2 interview times, I think 830 am and 1030 am, or something like that.

I doubt it makes a difference which one you choose.
