I sent them a committee letter and a LOR from a dentist. How can I send three letters, other than directly to the school, if the committee letter counts as three? I thought schools preferred a committee letter? I havent heard from UNC but im sure ill have the same problem because the same letters were sent to them. Also, will this delay/hurt my chances of an early interview? My app was mailed 6/28. Thanks

How many letters was your committee letter based on and from which professors.

It doesn't necessarily "count as three letters". AADSAS just doesn't accept more than 1 additional letter if you submit a committee letter. As I asked before, it depends on how many letters your committee letter was based on. They're not going to want a committee letter that was based on 1 science professor's rec. That's the only reasonable explanation as to why I would think that VCU is asking you to submit additional recs.

It depends on whether you have a commitee letter or packet.

For example, at my school my committee packet consisted of 4 LOR's and a composite letter based off those 4 LOR's.

Other schools might just send only 1 composite letter and that may or may not fufill the prereqs depending on the school.

Even if you have a committee letter, I'm sure it still needs to contain the necessary subjects that the school requires for individual letters. If the school wants a letter from bio, chem, and physics, they should all be in there.

You should be happy they even told you. Some schools just reject you and that's it.

I actually had a school (not VCU) reject me largely because they made a mistake looking at my application.

How do I know? They emailed me regarding the primary weaknesses in my application after I was rejected...but those observations were all merely the result of oversights. I notified them that they missed the information. They dean of admissions apologized and said she would look into it and that was the end of it.
