How long does it take for them to update? I have been waiting for over a week and half, and still nothing.

Hmm... i think it took 12 days for my status to change from "we have received your AMCAS" to "you can submit a secondary".

Anyone else have any idea? I submitted my online secondary already, and send in the handwritten part with a check a week and half ago. It still doesn't show up on the status page. 🙁

Oh, my LOR were sent around the same time.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. My LORs were sent about 2 weeks ago and still havn't been posted. They say give 3 weeks from the time they're sent until you see it online, so I'm waiting to call. My handwritten essay took about a week and a half to show up online after I sent it.

Hey geek, I'm in the same situation. I sent in my handwritten essay 11 days ago and the status page still doesn't have it. On the other hand, one of my LORs was sent 2 days after I mailed my essay and it showed up last week. Well, I hope my handwritten essay is not lost! It'd be a pain to re-write it.

another question re: the status page.... i have sent in my handwritten essay, and it states that it has received my supplemental application and the fee, does this include the add'l essay?? since i paid with a credit card and we had to do the online portion of the secondary, i dont know if this is all its referring to; does it mention the essay seperatly from the secondary?

yes, it does list the essay seperately.

Can anyone tell me the subject of the VCU secondary essay. VCU is my first choice. I just got the email that they have received my AMCAS app.

Dr. Detroit --

There is a 200 word essay (to be mailed in) on any topic of your choosing, but they say that you should not repeat info already conveyed in the AMCAS essay.

Also, there is another question (submitted online): In a few sentences, describe the practice you envision yourself participating in 10 yrs from now.

Am I the only one confused?
On the status page, you're told you have 30 days to complete your file. Then I just looked at the secondary instructions and it said you only have 2 weeks to complete your on-line secondary...which if that's the case, tough luck for me.

Does anyone know? I just found this out tonight. Too many secondaries...

You have 2 weeks to fill out the online secondary. But you have 30 days to get your letter of recs & handwritten essay to VCU. Or at least this is my understanding of it. Good luck

Has anyone emailed or called and received a response from VCU? I mailed my handwritten essay on Aug. 18 and still have no status update. 😕

After two emails in two consequetive weeks... no response.

Better yet, does anyone have a number for the admissions office?

Realize that VCU and the Richmond area were hit pretty hard by the hurricane a week or two ago...there was not much activity in the admissions office for awhile due to the inclement weather (they posted something about that). I sent my essay on Aug 23rd by priority mail and my status just changed a day ago...

Thanks Warrenb. Being in the SW I didn't know Virgina was hit. FL was on news everywhere but nothing about the states further north. I'll cut them some slack! 🙂

I go to school at University of Richmond and let me tell you, the downtown area, especially Shockoe Bottom, was devastated by the hurricane. The Bottom was literally flooded with 6 feet of water - we're talking cars floating down city streets. From what I gather, everything at VCU is up and running smoothly again as my status page was updated today.

From what I gather, everything at VCU is up and running smoothly again as my status page was updated today.

"Boner" is right, I am an M1 at MCV and we are still drying out from the last storm, we missed a day of class last week and I know the admissions office lost power for a few days. Be patient...good luck.
