Dr. Healy said 2 days ago that he will not send out anymore acceptances until Feb. 1st, at which point checking your AADSAS status will give you your most recent status change, if any, with VCU.

February seems so long from now... I just want to know!

does that imply that interviews will be sent around then too? still waiting to hear from them but everytime I call it's never a good experience and I never responses from emails! still hoping for some good news SOOOONNN!

Yeah, I wouldn't call. Dr. Healy admitted at the interview that he is more grouchy on the phone. Don't be deceived though. In all actuallity, he is one of the coolest adcoms I've met on all of my interviews.

QFT. Dr. Healy roxorz your soxorz.

I had forgotten exactly when he said they would send out acceptances, but it looks like there could be some overlap with the "second round" acceptances currently/about to be sent out. This is good, because it means that I might not have to put down two deposits (assuming I get acceptances from vcu and another school).

I'd kill for just one acceptance!

Hear Hear! to you statement about killing for just one acceptance. VCU is definitely one of my top choices now, if not, the top; at least when it comes to the comfort level I felt there and the opportunities for growth. I sure do hope that we get in! Good luck Lemoncurry.

ahhh! I am waiting to hear from VCU as well. I interviewed this past monday and sent in my thank you notes yesterday. So hopefully Feb 1st will bring good news! For those still waiting for interviews, I know Dr Healy said that they do interviews into February but I'm not sure how far. And it is usually 8-10 people on Mon and Tues and thats it for the week. Good luck everyone! Only 13 days till D-DAY!!!

thanks for sharing the info! i can't believe vcu stops doing interviews only as far as into feb, that's it? I know they were one of the earlier schools to start or at least they weren't one of the last ones, but I was hoping they would continue a little more because what does that mean then...if you haven't recieved an interview invite from VCU then you're probably done there because in order to interview in feb you should be invited in the next week or so right, dont' they usually give a months notice?

Hey DentalGal, I was looking at your stats at it seems to me that you would be pretty competitive. The only thing I could see that might hurt you is your undergrad GPA but you got a 4.0 in your master's (I take it), and you have consistent DAT scores, and you're a Virginia resident. All in all, I would think that you would get in for sure. Good luck everybody.

As for the interview issue. I'm sure most schools are starting to slow down, if not, stop interviewing completely. I know that Marquette is no longer interviewing and I'll be honest, less interviews translates into less competition if you ask me. Come on VCU!!! FEED ME!!! I'll be starving come FEB. 1st...uhhh...just thinking about that date makes me want to throw-up. Oh yeah, DentalGal, did Dr. Healy respond to your email. Just wondering because I've heard that he doesn't tend to reply to thank you emails.

Well I didn't sent e-mails I sent actually old school snail mail thank yous. I hope I do get in!!! My undergrad GPA blows and I know it but I hope I was able to show to show my interviewers that I really am a good student, I just had too much fun in undergrad!

I can't imagine that you wouldn't what with all of your other credentials. It seemed as though there were a lot of Virginia residents the day we interviewed. There was one girl there that got a 21 on the DAT but hadn't gotten in anywhere yet which suggests that she has other outliers on her application. All and all, I'm counting the days until February 1st...13 DAYS & COUNTING!!!

are there any VCU D2012 students out there with a copy of your fall schedule? I am a D.5 student and I wanted to know when Infection and Immunity starts because thats our first class. Thanks!

i don't think any of us know. i would think that you as a D.5 would have the scoop on that, D-Gal! lol.

so are you saying that Infection and Immunity is the first class for the d.5'ers? on VCU's website all i've been able to find is the 2007 schedule, which shows Gross Anat. as our first class.

yeah. infection and immunity and evidence based dentistry are the two classes we take in the fall with you guys. i do believe gross anatomy is your first class and then we start classes when you guys all start infection and immunity. i think he said september for the d.5 people.

i can't wait to get up there though!

I have a question about vcu... my advisor told me that they prefer science majors for admissions, and that if you haven't taken all of their recommended classes (which are all biology classes, listed on their website) they will not be interested and you probably won't get an interview.
Is anyone here who got an interview a non-science major, who has just taken the minimum science requirements? any insight?

zoology major here. i know they are one of the schools that requires you to take biochem, but that's before matriculation, not application.

I am a non-traditional student with a degree in music. I went back to school to take all of my prereqs. I did not have biochem done when I applied or a math, but I got an interview invite even tho my application wasn't complete until the beginning of december because I took the DAT late Nov. I didn't get in, but I'm pretty sure it's cuz I was so late in applying. I don't think your major matters as long as you get good grades, do well on the DAT, and show dedication to dentistry. Make sure you have at least 4-6 of their recommended bio classes under your belt as well and you'll be fine. Good luck!!

Has anyone heard of any movement on the wait list? Also, should I go ahead and reapply this cycle even though I'm on a wait list? I'm thinking I should just in case things don't work out, but I'm just wondering if anyone had any advice! Thanks!!!

I am a business major and did the bare minimum of the science Pre-reqs.

If you haven't heard anything by May 15 I would! Ultimately, if you don't get in this cycle you won't regret having not jeopardized next years cycle by not applying early because of wishful thinking. I'm not saying that you don't have a chance this year, I'm just saying that you should take advantage of the early app. for next year in the event that you don't get in the C/O 2012 cycle. Good luck :luck:

i'm in agreement. I'm waitlisted at VCU too (and REALLLLLLY) want in. I'm hoping for the best but planning for the worst. oh, and congrats denticus, I interviewed VCU same day as you...I had a good feeling for you right off the bat. Grace and Peace

Does anyone else feel good when they see a thread about vcu? As much as I am not excited to start 4 years of extremely hard work, I'm pumped about the school we're going to.😀

Hey, thanks for the kind words Pain! Were you the guy that gave me a ride afterward? I can't remember. Do you know of anybody else who got in from our group? If you are really waitlisted then I'm sure you'll get in given what Dr. Healy told us about your chances. Hopefully you don't have to walk on glass through next cycle and that you get in this year. If so, see you in a few months. Good luck to you :luck:...and by luck I mean make sure your cell is always charged and off "silent" so that when Healy calls you'll be ready to say...I mean scream...YES, I ACCEPT YOUR OFFER!!!:boom::barf:😆:d

Oh yeah, YES!!! I am way excited about going to VCU!!! and YES!!! I get excited about hearing any news about VCUSOD.

i was there with you denticus and masterpain i think. i got in the d.5 program and I am super stoked every time i see something about VCU. what a great institution and opportunity for us to attend such a great school in a great city!

DentalGal, In my opinion, you are VERY lucky to be in the d.5 program. You will have a good shot at keeping a high GPA throughout your D1 year. Sometimes I wish I would have been accepted into the d.5 program first. You can do well if you are straight D1, but the D1 year is MUCH more stressful if you weren't in the D.5 program. D.5s get 4 of the medical science courses knocked out of the way and more time to focus on lab and dental related courses in the D1 year. AWESOME OPPORTUNITY!
