Verbal: Help!

Regardless of where I do practice passage from either EK 101 or the TPRH verbal workbook, I keep missing 3 questions per passage and they are usually the author type questions. I really don't know what to do.

I hear that the practices are harder than real MCAT, is that true? Does anyone have any pointers to help me? Anything would be greatly appreciated!
