I just finished probably the hardest passage I have ever encountered in TPR verbal reasoning booklet. Are MCAT passages truly going to be 8 paragraphs of convoluted detail? After taking Kaplan passages (5 paragraphs usually) TPR makes Kaplan look way to easy. As for the mapping of an 8 paragraph passages it seems unrealistic.

Should I be expecting actual MCAT passages to look like this? Or is TPR just making them harder?

I personally thought my verbal passages were harder than the kaplan/ek ones. I scored a couple points lower than my averages and got a 10... which pissed me off. I remember thinking that TPR were a little harder, but still good nonetheless.

Mapping is unrealistic. Just use the highlighter tool...

FYI, many of these strategies are silliness and nonsense. If you're looking for a "strategy," I would recommend getting the EK verbal manual and trying their process out.

Which passage # was it OP? As far as mapping goes, I have never used it. I feel after doing many passages you eventually start to notice what will be questioned as you read through the passage. I have never tried Kaplan passages, but I prefer TPR over EK.

1) The verbal on the actual MCAT is difficult. There will be 1-2 passages that just blow your mind. Adjust your expectations accordingly.

2) The only prep you need is the examkrackers book. Do as many passages as possible. I was able to post a 12 with this book and thats it.

3) Some people will never be able to do well on verbal. I've know multiple very "smart" people who couldn't get above a 7 on there best day. If this is you, shoot for 12-13ish on other sections to have a shot at MD acceptance.

I just have a feeling that TPR passages are not supposed to be completed under timed conditions. It was also passages #2 of Chp. 4 about centrists, conservatives, and progressives. Ridiculous.
