I have taken an SMP and scored a 3.8 cum GPA on 32 hours. However on the Amcas they did something strange. All of the courses were intensive biology and instead of listing them all as BIOL they divided them up into health and biology. So for the biol they only used 12 hours which resulted in a 3.9 BCPM but an overall gpa of 3.7.

Will this be a problem seems like I only had 12 hours of sciences to the medical schools? or will they just glance at the 3.9 BCPM and be fine with it?

Thanks SDNers always appreciated!

Another thing that I noticed is that my UG BCPM is the exact same as my overall I'm guessing they made a mistake on that calculation as well...

It doesn't sound like they made a mistake. A SMP is a graduate program so it goes under graduate GPA. It is never used as part of your overall undergrad GPA.

Thanks for the feedback, but that is not what I was trying to address. They have separated my graduate and undergraduate GPAs its just that my graduate degree only has 12 hours of BCPM and I'm wondering if that will look bad for the SMP.

Well I'm not quite sure what the problem is. As long as you've fulfilled all of the prereqs for medical school and did well in the SMP, then it really shouldn't matter what the exact breakdown is between BCPM and AO graduate course hours during your SMP

I've always heard that BCPM was what they really cared about but you are probably right its an SMP with a purpose "specifically for medschool" so Im sure it doesnt matter as much in the grad program. Im going to leave it alone and quit overanalyzing. Thanks again for the response!
