Verified today - worth applying with 2.9 sgpa?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Crazier things have happened than someone getting in with a 2.9 sci GPA, but you'd be silly not to apply DO. If MD is that important to you, consider an SMP.

You need a post-bacc. You aren’t competitive as it stands. Your first MCAT WILL be another factor

Was verified by amcas today and am wondering if I should proceed with my application for md programs?

Stats: 3.07 overall gpa, 2.9 science gpa, and 512 (129/125/128/130) on my second mcat attempt.

My ECs are strong, have good letters of rec, and have a strong upward trend (see attachment). Do I throw my application out there and see what happens or am I wasting my time?
More details about your application are needed in order to answer your question. Are there extenuating factors behind that low BCPM GPA?

Your cGPA and sGPA are both very low and will be significant obstacles. In addition, you're a 2X MCAT taker, so I assume your first MCAT score was on the low side. Many schools will average your MCAT scores, and all will see that you took the test twice. That leaves you with a GPA that's a liability and an MCAT that's an asterisk. Many schools will junk your app right there without even considering your ECs. If you apply now, you'll be setting yourself up to fail and have to be a reapplicant in some future cycle.

My advice is to do a post-bacc and improve your GPA. If you do that and continue your upward trend, your likelihood of success will be much greater.

Thank you in advance for your time and insights.
Waste of money. Do a Postbac or SMP. Read my post on guide to reinvention for pre meds
