Hi all--

I was wondering if any of you could help me to find the medical licensing board/organization in the Dominican Republic.

I'm trying to find out if a doctor my boyfriend just had a rotation with was actually licensed or not, because we have some doubts.

I've done some research and tried to use my poor Spanish skills to surf the DR government website, but I'm not having much luck.

Any ideas?

Thank you so much in advance for any input.

Huh? you went to see a doctor who might not be licensed but happens to be your boyfriend?

What?

Haha, um, no no.

My boyfriend is a 3rd year med student, and he just had a rotation in the Dominican Republic with a doctor who may or may not be licensed.

He had a horrible experience, and he's doubting whether this doctor is even licensed, so we were trying to find out who we would contact to verify her license.

Does that make more sense?

yes much better.

why don't you talk to the student coordinator that placed your bf into that hospital? or you can ask that doc's boss i.e. who hired her at the hospital if she's really licensed or if she's not hired by the hospital ask the secretaries who gave her hospital privilages if they had proof that she was an MD. It's happened multiple times before in latin countries people will just bribe the government and show them a fake diploma to get a license to practice. i think there was a case maybe 2 or 3 years ago in costa rica or even DR one of those countries and like 8 physicians were found to have been practicing with fake licenses or even without a license.

So it's very possible.
Also he should talk to his school that placed him into that hospital and express his concerns to them.
