I've been looking for studies/articles done on the subject of vertically vs. horizontally brushing ones teeth and I've only found a few traces in my search. If you guys know of a trial or have any links to some article I'd greatly appreciate the help.

The Modified Bass technique is what we learned in dental school. This is a horizontal brushing technique at 45 degrees that gently gets underneath the gums.
Try using that term in your search. Also - please post here what you find as this could help many of us.
