Hi guys, I've been browsing this forum for months and finally decided to post up. I thought I knew all the requirements to get into pharmacy school until i met with an old friend from high school who got in with a 2.9 GPA, how is this possible. He did not take the pcat (it wasn't a requirement untill just recently) and hes on his second year at CU Denver. I guess I'm asking if race/ethnicity has anything to do with it?

Just goes to show that GPA isn't always everything. Maybe that school had a minimum of 2.5, or 2.7 and he had good letters, statement, extracurriculars. I doubt his race (whatever it may be, you didn't mention) was the deciding factor.

In other words, you're wondering if he got in with his low GPA simply because he's black (has to be; it's the major racial culprit in these types of questions).

The fact is, whatever the reason is that allowed him to get into pharmacy school with a 2.9 GPA, don't expect it to apply to you. Just focus on being the best applicant YOU can be.

In other words, yes it does, should be no suprise race and gender are two significant factors. Obviously not the most important ones and not really significant enough to worry about.

If this suprises you, welcome to the real world.
