Maybe by the time you get interviewed you will be in the midst of your next year? Like you've done 1.5 and by the end of next year you will have done 2.5?
I'm no expert, but that error doesn't seem like such a big deal to me. It's certainly not "lethal."
Chill out, likely won't be brought up or even noticed at all
Call the schools and tell them that you made an error. Tell them you know it is small and a silly mistake, but you are very excited about your opportunity to come to their school, and you don't want to risk it on triviality.
Kill several birds with one stone.
Ok so I just realized that in the otherwise great personal statement that I wrote, I have made a small stupid mistake in the freaking conclusion. So here is the conclusion:
."I have seen the dark side of life, there is no doubt to that but I have also seen the positive, the bright side of life, which is the internal force that inspires me to be a doctor. I have witnessed a woman go through emergency cesarean section to give birth to a healthy baby. That was the first time in my life when a baby's cry brought a smile on my face. I was also no longer split between MD or PhD. Throughout my two and half years of volunteering in various hospital departments, I have noticed something that all patients have in common, that is the appreciation for their doctors for the care they provide. I knew that my curiosity of knowledge would be satisfied in either program but the life-long satisfaction and appreciation, I realized, is only in becoming a doctor.."
I've volunteered for one and half years.. not two and half as it says in conclusion and I don't know how I made that mistake but since that's in conclusion, it's got me even more worried.
Should I just ignore, let it go and hope that the discrepancy between this and EC doesn't get noticed by the admission committee?
I was thinking of writing a short letter to go with secondary app explaining that mistake and saying how sorry I was for that. Do you think that would do or have I really made a lethal mistake of making a mistake on PS and thus are my chances for med school gone for this cycle? Please help me before I go crazy and fall in depression :'(
Haha... ya I guess I could do that after I have all my secondaries submitted. Or I could write that in additional comments section that several secondaries give you. No?
Thanks for fast responses, guys.
Shouldn't it be "two and a half" years? Like Two and a Half men-It sounds strange when you say "two and half men"
Looks like you have two typos to worry about now...![]()
Any thoughts on the conclusion itself?
you've already submitted. you don't want to ask that question.
Yeah, I agree with the above, don't worry too much, this isn't a gamebreaker. I would consider putting exactly one line in the additional comments section of secondaries, something like:
"There is a typo in my primary personal statement, in the last paragraph 'two and a half' should read 'one and a half'."
And that should do you fine. It's not nearly as bad as a mistake in the activities section would be (and even that wouldn't be the end of the world).
man i opened this thread hoping for a good story from "potential lethal mistake" like you saying
."I have seen the dark side of life, there is no doubt to that but I have also seen the positive, the bright side of life, which is the internal force that inspires me to be a doctor. I have gone through emergency cesarean section to give birth to a healthy baby. ".
hopefully you're a guy, which would make this mistake obviously a better one.
